Avis à la une
In this short an urban man and his wife have their weird lives set akimbo when the man takes to wearing an old red pants suit of his mother in law's.
I kept watching this hoping that I could see why it had been made, or why the other reviewers found it funny. For me it was a total waste of time.
Not everyone's tastes are the same but this was clearly not to mine.

Scott Prendergast is a genius... well maybe not a genius, but he's got a great, twisted sense of humor. Again, he delivers snortworthy laughs with The Delicious, a film about a man who's found his calling in life... his calling: The Delicious.
10kbritt-1
This is such a great short but if you are watching it like you would watch "Santa Clause 2" then of course you won't get it. It's symbolic. Gerold is in a world where people are fake or playing a role and in order to be an accepted part of those societies, he has to play along but it's touchier. Red (like the red exit sign) and the red jumpsuit in particular along with the whole "The Delicious" thing is Gerald being real and authentic. He looks at the red exit sign as the work drones go on and on about something of no importance...he just wants to escape the droning.
At the party, he's about to lose it listening to the fake party small talk and like Clark Kent going into the phone booth and emerging as Superman, Gerald goes into the closet and emerges wearing The Delicious albeit under his clothes. Still, it gives him the power to quell the small talk and the fakeness.
How many times a day do I wish I could just start laughing at the office drones and shut them up with a "neny" "neny" finger pinching motion? A lot.

I saw "The Delicious" last night as part of the 2004 Sydney Mardi Gras Queer Screen festival and thought it was brilliant. It's very well crafted in terms of writing, structure, visual expression - and absolutely hilarious! Scott Prendergast is definitely a film maker to watch. You saw him here first...
every once in a while you stumble upon something and you say to yourself, "ahhhh, this was made by my people!" this short is just brilliant. simple, yet rich. we need to see more from mr. prendergast. comedy is in dire need of more fellas like this. if he doesn't succeed, i have no faith in the future of comedy.
you can find "the delicious" on the first mcsweeney's "wholphin" quarterly DVD, along with a bunch of other pretty fantastic pieces. subscribe. you won't be disappointed (no, i don't work for mcsweeney's, but frankly, i wish i did).
viva la delicious!
