Haunted House

Unfortunately, the DVD case doesn't warn you of the terrible quality of both the acting and the filming of this movie.

For over 50 percent of the movie, you cannot even see the actors. Apparently the filmmakers have never learned about lighting. They are in an unlit house at midnight, but you can't even tell where in the shot they are. Which is probably for the best, because the acting is so terrible that you're better off not seeing them. The story line isn't exactly great either.

Haunted House isn't even one of those terrible movies that you rent and laugh at because it sucks so badly. Its one of those movies where you genuinely feel cheated out of 5 bucks.

OK OK... one of the worse student films I've ever seen.

I can't believe something this bad got distributed. To the distribution company: If you're going to distribute STUDENT FILMS, PUT A WARNING ON IT!!!

I actually miss the couple of bucks I paid to rent this film.... maybe that's why I'm spending 5 more minutes to the already 88 minutes of my life wasted on this film to write about it so others don't have to suffer the boredom I did....

The acting was HORRIFIC! The directing was FLAT! The lighting was so AWFUL IT WAS FUNNY. To the DP: Repeat with me...Key Light!!! The writing was SHAMEFUL! The sound...did they even have a sound guy?????? I didn't check the credits.

I have to say this is the worst movie ever. However, there are some cool parts. First, the guy in the window, the door slamming shut by itself and of course the flashing by the girls nice boobs!!! Therefore, I gave it a 3 but if you are desperate in looking at this film then either borrow it for free!!! or rent it on your unlimited rental plan at your nearby video store. Don't pay money to watch this!!! I wonder if they will take a return if I say the disc don't work ?

Basically the story line is 4 college students get recruited to work on an independent film. During the filming process, things get crazy. A local legend of a dead homeowner returns to claim back his house as well as scare to "death" the trespassers.

If you're reading this review, you were probably like me and saw an eye-catching DVD Box at your video rental store and thought it would be worth a shot. Well, the box cover of Asylum Entertainment's 'Haunted House' is the only promising part of the next 90 minutes of poor quality production you are about to witness.

This is not the first time Asylum Entertainment's box covers have caught my eye... indeed. last week, I rented 'Lady in a Box' and another movie I can;'t remember the name of. What I learned in this week is NEVER rent another movie with Asylum Entertainment in the lower back right corner.

The production quality is so horrifying, especially to view as a video production student. The camera-work, shot on prosumer digital video, is choppy and unmotivated. The lighting looks like it was shot in some studio out in California. The characters are worse than any soap opera I've seen on daytime television.

Don't waste your time...and don't encourage video rental stores like Hollywood and Blockbuster to put this crap on the shelves.

Listen up, Conrad John. Since you were the writer, director and producer of "Haunted House," I'm holding you personally responsible for this crap-tastic film. I expect you to immediately mail me the $4 I spent renting this poorly made piece of schlock.

It's not my fault. I got suckered in by the professional looking DVD cover. I like a good cheesy horror flick from time to time. I thought "Haunted House" would have a few cheap scares.

Oh, there were some scary things in this movie, alright. Let's start with the acting...if you can call it that. I suppose you could say the cast was hampered by the lack of a intelligent script - or any script for that matter. Of course, bad lighting, bad sound and horrendous direction don't help matters.

Jesus, there wasn't even a plot. How hard is it to come up with some scares??? If you can't come up with anything original, at least take the time to rip something off.
