Good film - not quite what I expected

I just saw the film and was pleasantly surprised by the treatment of this subject matter. Without giving too much away, it's about two young ministers who have an unorthodox outreach to people affected by the porn industry.

Bill Day does a good job of showing them caught between the multibillion dollar porn industry on one side and the conservative Christian right on the other. A particularly telling scene shows Craig, one of the ministers, outside a porn convention where he's been quietly reaching out to participants, porn stars, etc., being confronted by a placard-wielding, megaphone carrying right wing activist. What a wonderful study in contrasts!

Cleaver, funny, and well-balanced. Approaching a religious theme from outside the religious establishment, as a sympathetic observer. While I don't share the activists' passion for their cause, I commend their approach and recommend the film.

Two pastors with a crazy idea...

A young man in his shower, and a little voice in his head says, "Porn." No, this is not a typical teenager thinking about what he was looking at on the internet last night; but a pastor with a vision that would shock the Christian community. That is what the movie "Missionary Positions" is all about. Bill Day brings the faith of Craig Gross and Mike Foster to life.

These two pastors entered the battle against pornography from a unique angle; head on. Taking the message of Jesus Christ and the dangers of pornography to porn shows and websites; they have found themselves taking heat from not only the porn industry itself, but the Christian community as well. Oddly enough some of their closest allies have come from the porn industry, with such names as porn producer Jimmy D. in an urgent message to young people about the dangers of pornography.

*** Warning to parents *** this movie, despite containing a Christian message, does contain objectionable material in the way of partial nudity, the filming of a sex scene (the screen is blurred to prevent nudity) and some profanity. The movie does take you to a porno convention, a studio, and to the streets. It is not suitable for younger audiences.

With dynamic approaches such as "Wally the Weiner" and "Pete the Porno Puppet" Craig and Mike are reaching a hurting world that is desperate for Jesus Christ. With a light hearted disposition, and contagious smiles. Craig and Mike will encourage your faith, warm your hearts, and make you laugh.

    A film you should see...

This well made documentary addresses an often controversial subject but director Bill Day isn't afraid to sprinkle some humor in along the way. In fact this helps quite a bit as many people, especially conservative types, are uncomfortable about pornography in general. I give points to the creators of the film for having the guts to make and screen the film. From a Christian perspective, learning about the pastor's ministry and tools to fight against porn was encouraging and I believe that this film has the potential to help a great deal of people. As the word gets out about it I have no doubt that more churches and anti-pornography groups will support and get behind it. I had the opportunity to view this film at a church in Charlotte, NC where the director and a star from it were present. After the screening, they opened up the floor for questions and answers and a funny thing happened. No one asked any real tough questions about it until the very end when someone said "how do we define pornography?" Tough one indeed! The folks handled it as best they could, but it puzzled me because I didn't remember the film addressing that at all. I believe that what is considered pornography to some may not be to others, and it would have been nice to see the film explore this aspect as well.

    Jesus failed

These two guys are the scum of the earth and obviously Jesus didn't manage to give these two suckers a little bit of dignity, reason and decency. If their message was " Lets watch porn" and "screw sin" I get it.As I am an Atheist I am grateful for such miserable "Christians"; opening our eyes to what religion has become, a device of self-worship, self-indulgence and though being corrupt considering yourself holy. I watched these two stand up comics and I am appalled by their sincere vanity, boasting about the money they earn and gloating in the media attention. It seems their vocabulary only consisted of "porn" and "masturbation". What revolutionary Christians! With their obscenity they scare every normal person.

Bill captures and portrays this quest wonderfully...

I had the pleasure of viewing the film at the Jacksonville Film Festival as well as spending some time with Bill discussing it. This was one of a very few films that I knew I had to see and blocked my schedule accordingly. I wasn't disappointed.

Having spent many years working with teenagers inside the church, Bill paints a picture-perfect example of how the porn industry is affecting the church's subculture. The two youth pastor's quest, favorable and non alike, are brought to the forefront of this documentary. The involvement of Jimmy D, and the rest of the porn industry, is something that most Christians and parents need to see and hear.

I highly recommend this film to pastors, youth pastors, and parents. This is a tool that can open the door for many discussions and accountability.

    Wonderful film Bill!

announcer #1: For four days exhibitors are selling sex products at the Sands Expo, yet among all this pornography are two men selling God.

announcer #2: Pastors at a pornography convention, advertising a triple-X web site? Now that'll grab your attention, and that's exactly what they want.

Craig Gross: No, you're not gonna see porn on there, but what you are gonna find, you're gonna find Bible studies, you're gonna find sermons, you're gonna find resources, helps and referrals.

Mike Foster: We just think there's something better than the adult expo, and that's hope of heaven.

Craig Gross: This is Rex the Rabbit, he's our mascot.
