Mistaken Identity

Jeanette MacDonald discovers that newsboy. Alfred Calazza has a great singing voice. She makes preparations for a marvelous career for him, ad arranges for his parents to come over and discuss his future. She doesn't know he's the son of Leo Durocher and Laraine Day. Confusion ensues.

This episode of Screen Directors Playhouse is directed by David Butler, with a script co-written by Gene Raymond. Miss MacDonald also sings an aria in her television debut, and a duet with young Calazza. The episode is a little mechanical in its humor, but Miss MacDonald is a fine ditz. Calazza seems to have disappeared since then, but he seems like a trouper here.
