I happened to catch the screening of this short at the NDU Film Festival, where it went on to win the 1st prize. The amount of talent behind it is tangible in many aspects and throughout the whole movie. The script is remarkably well written, the actors are perfectly cast and the tension is so grasping. If you're into thrillers, I'd definitely recommend this gem!
I had the opportunity to catch this short film at the Lebanese International Film Festival. It is safe to say that it stood out from the rest of the movies presented at the festival. The audience was kept on the edge of its seat throughout the entire movie. You could hear a pin drop, as everyone's breath was taken away by the thrill and anticipation the movie portrayed so well. Caroline, the female lead, portrayed the distraught wife and protective mother so well, her eyes showers the screen with deep emotions. You could feel the father's pain and anger, as Said Serhan conveyed such a convincing overflow of feelings. But the star of the movie was the little boy. You can clearly see, as the story progresses, the innocence slowly stripped away from him, as the look in his eyes, and the way he carries himself, shifts from this little naive boy, to someone forced to grow-up virtually overnight. Great experience overall, and a must see movie!
I went to the LFF hoping to pickup on some promising talent and tasteful cinema and this film made my night. Anthony Yazbeck's Raining Dogs proves that the humblest onscreen approaches work best and give such honest insight. It succeeded at narrating the utmost delicate event in a young person's life by portraying a marriage between the shedding of innocence and grasping perplexity. What I liked most about the film is how it managed to keep me in an ongoing state of suspense while it built up to the climax that burst so smoothly. It was such a satisfying watch in many aspects. In addition to its remarkable script, the camera language and fine editing gives you a sense of being part of the action played out by three very rich characters that I grew fond of in a short span of time.
This film made an impact on me and I went on to watch it again when it became available. I am genuinely interested to see how the young filmmaker will evolve.
