Avis à la une
I thought this movie was very well made. Both actresses were wonderful in their parts. Such a beautiful albeit sad story. Loved how both their daughters collaborated on this endeavor, I'm sure their mothers are proud.
This is a heartwarming and endearing film brought to life by the realistic performances by all four (4) leading actresses and actors. The husbands who play the spouses of the two female country stars may have minor roles but their performances as hard drinking, skirt chasing and abusive husbands are reflective of the 1960's marital woes.
The two leading ladies Megan Hilty who plays Patsy Cline and Jessie Mueller who plays Loretta Lynn form a close knit friendship that was cut prematurely short. I for one never knew much about these two performers lives but I got to know and understand these two womens' trial and tribulations through their fine performances as mothers, wives and country songbirds. Kudos to the performances by actresses Megan Hilty and Jessie Mueller who made this film a special tribute to Patsy Cline and Loretta Lynn's friendship and loving relationship.
It is an excellent biographical presentation that I hope will be remade some day into a ten (10) part mini-series with the same strong cast re-appearing. This made for TV Lifetime film is certainly way above par for a Lifetime film and deserving of special attention.
I rate the film a heart warming 9 out of 10 IMDb rating.

I grew up LOVING Patsy Cline & was obsessed with the movie Sweet Dreams ( movie based on her w/Jessica Lange playing Patsy) We got to see very little about her friendship with Loretta Lynn but some on the Cole miners daughter movie, so I was VERY excited to see this movie.
I thought Mehan Hilty did an AMAZING job playing Patsy so much so I didnt even see Megan only Patsy. Muller did a great Job playing Loretta & seeing their friendship & then how Lynn's youngest was named after Patsy put tears in my eyes . I LOST it When at the end you see how Loretta helped Charlie out after his breakdown of losing his wife & how it effects her. I balled!! Idk how much is true but I do know that Julie Fudge ( Patsy's daughter) & Patsy Lynn ( Lorettas' daughter named after patsy) was involved with the movie I saw their names involved in producing. If you are a fan or grew up like I did loving Patsy, ( even though i was only 10 years old when the 1985 movie Sweetdreams came out) no matter how old you are you will truly love this touching movie of friendship between 2 lovely talented ladies that stuck together instead of trying to be in competition with in a cut throat industry having each others backs. It really was great story!
Loved the movie!! Megan did a real good job playing, Patsy Cline!! I didn't see Megan, I saw Patsy!!
Omg, where do I start?
Patsy Cline was a gifted contralto who could sing at least two octaves without losing the fullness of the nótes. Her voice, even in songs like "Honky Tonk Merry Go Round" stayed silky, seductive and personal. She sang every song as if it is personal, which is why her voice is unmistakable whether it's paired with violins or cowbells. She knew how to make it her own.
Megan Hilty, a terrific Broadway singer, doesn't just sing a song. She belts it out so the people the back can hear her. She has a greater vocal range, but not the same ability or carve a note out from a song and leave it hanging in the air. That's why her rendition of "Crazy" sounds less like Patsy "making love to the audience" (as Owen Bradley said of Patsy's voice), and more like Ethel Merman telling us that "there's NO business like SHOW business,"
It's the wrong voice for the character. It wouldn't be a big deal but this is a movie about singers with the wrong kind of singing voices.
Jessie Mueller does a better job with Loretta Lynn's fragile, near shouting way of singing. She nails the pauses and breathing that Lynn puts into her songs. She's a little off with the look and the notes, but she does a pretty good job.
The accents in this movie are GODAWFUL. Couldn't Lifetime have spring for a dialect coach? It's as bad as watching a whole movie of David Boreanaz pretending to be the Irish Angelus.
Finally, the film itself is poorly paced. It feels as if we are waiting for a Yoplait or Progressive commercial every 15 minutes. There's a story to be told here, but this isn't the film to tell it,
Watch "Sweet Dreams" or "Coal Miner's Daughter." They are far better films with far better acting and music.
