Babru

Was not able to watch the movie at the cinemas due to a specific reason and i had been waiting to watch it and finally caught up with it yesterday.. There are some movies which begin slowly and then become exciting when they pick up the pace after few minutes and finally end up as wonderful ones.. But Babru begins with a bang, the opening scenes are so good that if you are watching the movie in the cinemas you better be before time or you will miss the plot from the beginning itself.. Loved the screen play and the way the story takes shape during the course of the movie. The pace hardly slows down and takes us through unexpected twists and turns even as we are driven across the US routes and highways offering us some breathtaking locales along the way. A movie with few characters actually which are interwoven quite well. Believe me, even 20 minutes into the story you won't have a clue what's the thriller factor is about and where the suspense would lead us to. While the 1st half of the movie tends to move on the lines you would have expected it to, say reach the destination with some amount of surprises and some action and with perhaps a predictable ending, it's in the second half when the plot thickens and you have the story racing at break neck speed and it's some what akin to the pace of BABRU the car being driven all along the length of the movie that keeps you at the edge of the seat( in my case,my sofa🙂).. The movie ends quite quickly after the suspense heightens... At the end of it you will really love the drive and may end up thinking, well that's not a long drive actually.. Loved the BGM.. The photography captures the awesome locales very well... No unnecessary characters flitting in and out of the frames.. The spanish dialogues add some variety to the screen play and so do those actors.. some super performances from the main actors - Mahi hiremath who looks and acts cool getting into the character easily.. Sunny Moza -with a new look a la Virat kohli,strutting around with a golf club(not a cricket bat!) and looking very mean and cold... And namma Suman Nagarkar who's back with a bang with BABRU.. On the negative side, you would some times feel that the movie is going slow and secondly there are perhaps 3-4 scenes which were not necessary or could have been shortened.. Overall a slick movie, the plot will have you hooked to it..

Good story line. Watched a Kannada movie after ages, new faces, shot in some scenic west coast locations, felt very nostalgic. The camera work and capture of the scenes is exceptional. I loved the story, climax and how the story unfolds. It's on AMZN Prime and you can watch it in the comfort of your couch.

Kudos to Ms Suman, Guru and the entire crew for a great piece of work. When is your next movie, guys?

It's suspense thriller in a road trip backdrop. The movie has three main characters Suman Mahi & the car #babru. It starts with a simple plot, two strangers happen to go to a same location and the car they end up selecting is babru due to circumstances they decide to travel together.After this setup this movie is a roller coaster ride of many things from a love story to a family drama to a mafia mayhem. How these are connected to them and the car is entire run of the movie The cinematography department shines,especially the drone shots are just awesome. Entire movie was shot in u.s. first of its kind in Kannada. Music was good and even the performances. Overall a good watch please do watch it

Slick cinematography, some amazing music, thespian'ish performance from Suman Nagarkar and a freshness with lively presence from Hiremath marks a 8-star BRAVO for this movie. The coastal scenes of western United States with lilting music in the background follows the white colored beetle the unwitting co-star of the movie. The director and writers have managed to weave some Hitchcock-worthy suspense in the later part of the movie that keeps viewers at the edge of their seats or couch in my case. Suman Nagarkar oozes the mystique restraint of her character that stands in stark contrast to her male co star who is more expressive of a classic freewheeling youngster in his early 20s. Babru comes across as a refreshingly fresh whiff theme when movie watchers are tired of mundane Kannada movies with bad action heroes, who can barely emote stuffed with poor dialogue and meaningless dance and Kan-pop (bad version of Kannada hip hop).

Well it's one of the unique thrillers tried in Kannada. It keeps you engaging till the very end. The positive side of the movie is the cinematography, the locations and the music. I would have given 9+ if screenplay was bit faster. The two cute part of the movie is the VW beetle and Suman mam. Glad she started acting again. All the best for suman mam, Sujay and the entire team for their next venture.
