Where to begin.
I give credit to anyone that can write, direct and get a movie produced.
So that is the credit I give this film.
It is lifeless at the best of times.
Not sure if they didn't have a proper sound tec for Denise Richards, but most of her scenes seem to be over dubbed. Many scenes are our overdubbed, but it was most noticeable for Denise Richards. And well we don't need to go into her performance. I'm going to guess they got what they paid for. The shining light is that Ilean Almaguer is a very good actor. She even made the poor writing workable. If you're looking for a cheesy 90s thriller, you're not even going to find that here. The jump scares don't make you jump. If you can make it to the end good for you. I was always hoping for something by the end to redeem it, but it didn't happen. I would guess a lot was lost on the cutting room floor between William and Sandra to show how their relationship grew into a friendship.
The movie over all was poor, but Ilean Almaguer do a great job.

A young Latina maid discovers that her rich and well-connected employers are hiding a family secret. "The Housekeeper" is strong on atmosphere and effective at characterization thanks to some good acting by the principals and a gothic enough setting to inspire unease in the viewer. Unfortunately the film's ultimate, rather predictable revelation is too clichéd (and too dimly lit) to justify whatever buildup its creators invested in it. They seem to have striven for classic (if well worn) horror tropes, and succeeded after a limited, less than nightmarish fashion. But that's a little unfair - most of "The Housekeeper" is intriguing in its own right, and if audiences aren't amply rewarded for their time, neither should they feel cheated.
So I have said this before but Tubi is literally one of my fave streaming services. I am a sucker for b-z list movies (truly my guilt pleasure) and I love free. They have been pushing out a lot of movies within the last two to three years and I have been loving them. Though some cheesy and I rate low, I still love it, ha.
This one was really different for a Tubi original. I love that! We have a live in housekeeper who gets hired for a wealthy married couple. I'm not going to reveal any spoilers but it was pretty good. It's a slow one due to build up of a lackluster reveal but it kept me interested enough. Though I don't quite understand fully the history behind the husbands secret, I don't care enough to try to.
It's a good one to watch to pass time.

Wow.. what a waste of time. There's not much in the way of character build up. The acting isn't believable and the storyline is very weak. I have watched many Tubi originals and this one was the worst. How anyone could have rated this a 10 makes me wonder.. did they watch a different movie or were they paid to post a positive review? Or maybe they were one of the cast members. If I was one of the cast members I would be embarrassed to say I was in this movie. I think that Tubi should scrap this movie and pretend it was never made.
I wasted my time, hopefully this review will keep you from wasting your time.

I love a good thriller, something that keeps you on edge and makes you feel something inside. I definitely felt that with this film especially when the gears get going and they get going at a good pace.
The deal with the housemaids and the Ash family and their secrets while they run for office and how it all ties together is an intriguing one, that once it all culminates to the surprise at the end it leaves you feeling sick (in a good way)
The ending left me wanting more and I mean that in a good way, it definitely has a satisfying enough conclusion but boy do you want more from these characters, it left me feeling gutted.
I loved seeing Denise Richards and Ilean Almaguer is a fantastic star I wasn't familiar with but would like to see more of her.
Overall go watch, perfect for thriller lovers and people wanting to get introduced to the genre.
Can't wait to see more from Stuart Altman who is director of this picture.
