Mister Sister

Mister Sister is a quirky film that tells the story of a young drag queen who is homeless and having suicidal thoughts. She meets a sweet drag mama and soon turns his life around.

At first he is on top of the world performing in an act where he insults the patrons but drugs and alcohol soon drag him down; But he picks himself back up with the help of his friends.

The movie is full of quirky characters. A tap dancing waitress and her sweet daughter, the owner of the club, the various club patrons and New York itself.

This is a love letter to the drag scenes and the city itself. The only problem is that it is a little too long and does drag in places. Also the ending felt a little rushed, as though someone noticed the length of the movie and though, 'we need to wrap this up.' It all could have been trimmed just a little to tighten the story up.and give it a better ending The music is really good and is a huge feature here.

This is a good movie though and the characters are interesting and likeable.

I liked the movie very much. I liked how it felt like I got to hang out with the characters and widen my circle of friends. Unlike so much entertainment available today it did not subject me to extreme worry, trauma, angst, or violence. //// The main character is so likeable, adorable, beautiful, and is very convincing in his role. //// The music was great and added a great element to the experience. I loved the little catchy vampire tune that the waitress sang and tapped to. //// I liked how Earl's reactions helped punctuate the emotional responses as the story unfolded. I loved how sincere and generous and unguarded all the performers seemed to be. I wonder how the cast of characters and the bingo place were gathered, a particularly lively bunch! //// I loved how the story is embedded in NYC--not in a Hollywood way--but in a regular NYC way. Thanks for letting me feel like an insider for a few hours.
