Résumé
Reviewers say 'Ram Setu' delves into faith, science, and heritage, highlighting the bridge's significance. Akshay Kumar's performance and adventurous spirit are praised, along with the film's engagement with Indian mythology. However, criticisms target the script, direction, and VFX, with many noting weak execution and inconsistent effects. Political undertones and narrative logic are also questioned, though the film is appreciated for its cultural and historical focus.
Avis à la une
Before watching it, I certainly had a notion that the movie might deliberately try to force its way into a religious sentiment. However, I feel, this is a good start. The dialogues are good enough and direction is also ok. Donot have very high expectations, however you also don't need to be highly critical of the movie also. It's a one time watch, for someone who loves historical mystery stories clubbed with indiana jones style. VFX is not good. They have relied too much of VFX which seems too childish. Overall nothing much to complain about.
Be very assured that this is NOT a movie that glorifies a particular religion heavily.

Ram Setu review :
He is an archeologist, a scientist and an atheist. By the end of the film, he also turns a lawyer and a bhakt!!
I mean Shri Ram Bhakt!
That's pretty much the graph of Akshay Kumar's character - a desi Indiana Jones if you may wanna call him - who is sucked in to a timebound expedition out to prove that the Ram Setu (or Adams bridge) connecting India to Lanka was man made. And more importantly, Lord Ram is NOT a mythology but our glorious history.
Drawing real life influence from the mid '2000s case where the previous UPA Government had filed an affidavit in court challenging the very existence of Lord Ram, the film seamlessly weaves in a thrilling adventure in to the proceedings to provide a wholesome Diwali entertainer for the entire family. Particularly, the underwater sequences will appeal big time to kids...
Unlike Samrat Prithviraj, Akshay Kumar is in form this time and he steers the movie effortlessly through its twists and turns right up to the courtroom climax. Nushrat Bharuccha looks too young to be his wife though!! The real surprise package turns out to be Satya Dev as AP, a tourist guide volunteering to help Kumar and co. For a couple of bucks.
On the flipside, the VFX are underwhelming, the film loses grip a couple of times in the second hour and Jacqueline looks more a model than a scientist. But all of these flaws get drowned in the ocean once the climactic revelation happens...Ram Setu just soars in the end and the final "divine" twist tugs your heartstrings to clap aloud in appreciation. Make it your family outing!!

Today I watch this movie due to its interesting title but after sometime movie start lacking as usual VFX, direction and screenplay. I don't know why Bollywood not try to use good VFX companies for their movies. They don't want to learn from past experiences. Story is good but poor performances by actors. It is just waste of time and money for me to go and watch it in theaters. If they try to provide better screenplay and directions then it will be a good movie. When you try to make such a big title movie you should have to give time in creating and making a movie. But when you follow ASAP policy in making movies then it lacks everything as always Bollywood does. Poor.
Although the movie's mistakes were huge in professional terms but the script written by the writers was hats off. The script was made in such a way that people from both sides of beliefs were not hurt at all. I personally don't think the Adam's Bridge is whole Ram Setu or it is a small part of Ram Setu if Valmiki's calculations were correct or correctly interpreted. The film was very serious on it's topic & it didn't deviated it from it's purpose. I liked watching this movie & gave me nostalgia to Oh My God! (OMG). And the fighting scenes were not liked so-called movie scenes which are impossible or rarely possible to be done in real life.
In his mad lust to complete shooting in less than 40 days, AK40 AKA Akshay Kumar ruined a great story in almost the same manner he ruined Prithviraj. AK40 is just trying to make money by manipulating Hindu sentiments. He must have thought that his movie will also float like stones just because it has Ram written on it. Hindus don't need ridiculous movies like this. Horrible acting, poor direction, bad music and a very loose childish script. The flow of the movie sucks. As usual, a great opportunity not just lost by urduwood but ruined for others as well. And the usual sickular monkey balancing which looks really ugly when forced into the story out of context or requirement of the plot.
