Honest Candidate

It was average comedy movie. As I have seen 2 previous versions of it, it didn't attract or I didn't find it very enjoyable. The two things that had been changed in this movie is that the main lead(Female) is trying becoming a mayor and in these 2 movies prosecuter(Male) who were trying to save their cases and another thing is in two previous versions kids pray for their father to not to lie and in this movie the mother prayed for her daughter.

The basic premise, albeit not totally original, is good in theory but the execution in this case is very mediocre. There are some mild laughs, but unfortunately the main protagonist is neither charismatic nor likeable. Actually she is kind of gross. Since female politicians aren't very likeable in general, it probably would have been better if it was a man. But even that wouldn't have been that much of an improvement. The script is simply bad and superficial. It's all about this lady winning her stupid election, but you don't sympathize with her, since she just went from being a corrupt scumbag to being a corrupt scumbag who's unable to lie.

One of the funniest movies I've seen this year. Interesting plot, characters are endearing, Ra Mi-Ran as a lead carries the movie splendidly. It's a light-heated fun that will not offend you, it doesn't want to make a statement, but it still has a message which is; all politicians lie. One difference between this movie and other movies tackling this premise is that this one succeeds in making it entertaining.

A funny satirical movie which is actually a remake of a 2014 Brazilian movie The Honest Candidate. This version is much better. There has been comparison to Liar Liar but that would be like comparing a Rolls Royce with a mini . . ..

Honest Candidate is sort of like an irreverent K-Drama with all of the aspects of a wildly unrealistic situation bringing maturity and moral growth for the main character. However, I just didn't find the main character that likable or the comedy that funny. Also as someone who does not speak Korean I found some aspects of it harder to follow than much more serious South Korean films I've seen. Maybe it's too "talky"? I don't know but it's a bad sign when a light-hearted comedy is more confusing than an award winning art film.

I almost felt like this flick was trying to be American, and in the worst possible way. Honest Candidate isn't terrible it is okay for a few laughs.
