Well meaning, but fails to convince

Ah, the life of a truckdriver! The wide open road, the road side diners, the long hours away from home, the camraderie... In another life, where I had a drivers licence or a geographical sense of direction it could have been a life for me.

Aller/retour is abvout Erika, a female truckdriver and her burgeoning friendship with Idy, a refugee trying to get to England in her truck. From this short description you could probably map out the rest of the screenplay. The movie seems more concerned with the home situation of Erika as it is with the considerable bigger problems of Idy. The movie treats him as a minor inconvenience and later as a supportive side-kick whose only goal seems to be to reach England. Little time is spend talking about his family or his history, which feels very strange. This movie falls into the category of 'well meaning' but just not very good. Kudos to Ruth Beeckmans who should spend less time in silly tv-shows and more time acting. She's really good!
