Wow, Sí is one of the best short films that I have watched recently. I liked most about the film's courage to talk about the complex yet rarely discussed issues of consent society. Most people think that a woman can only offer consent (at least in my community), and a man should not decline. I agree with Carlos in the film; this is a complex issue. What happens when a man is willing to withdraw the consent at any stage? Does that mean that he is taking away the woman's power to say yes? I wish this film was longer. I like the topic selected, and the director should consider making the movie longer. I think the issue of consent needs to b explored further. I will recommend the film to my friends. I need to have this conversation with them.
Short But Sweet. Sí, directed by Martin Ponferrada is a short film about a young woman who picks up a man in the club. This leads to a shocking revelation about the woman's past. While still interesting, it opens up some of the social encounters that individuals especially women, face while dating. The films' theme is sexual consent and the need to face our demons. The film begins with Anita in one of the upscale bars drinking alone when she is approached by a handsome man. She flirts with him and eventually convinces him to go home with her for probably what she expects to be a "romantic" night. The night date however ends in an unexpected twist. Anita who has been previously roofied, explains her experience to the young man. Roofied is a slang term that refers to date rape or sexual assault by someone you know, like a boyfriend, or someone you recently met, even an acquaintance. Anita reveals how after being roofied she did not report her tragic experience to the authorities. This can explain how most women fear being stigmatized even after going through similar ordeals. However, Anita has courageously overcome her experience through self-improvement books and come out "stronger". She now realizes that the importance of sexual consent not only on her part but her partner too. In terms of the plot even though the movie is short, most of the audience would appreciate knowing the background of the young man and Anita's. In addition, it would also be helpful to know the timelines of Anita's experience and how it shapes and affects her decisions making and judgment in the film. Otherwise the short film provides powerful insight into the social struggles that women go through dating and the importance of sexual consent.

Martin Ponferrada's short film 'Si' is like no other movie ever made. In the film, a young man named Carlo (Carlo Sardan) meets a woman named Anita. They instantly hit it off and form a connection. So much so that Anita invites Carlo to her place. After a long fun conversation, Anita fills up a nightcap and asks one extremely interesting question. She asked Carlo if he has ever been roofied before. The question takes him by surprise but it starts a whole another conversation between them. Anita confesses about an incident that happened with her during a trip to Cancun. The two get more comfortable with each other but Carlo suddenly has second thoughts about taking it any further. It quickly turns into a deep conversation about compulsion and consent. Si highlights a very common issue that people mostly avoid talking about. It highlights the idea of consent in the simplest way possible. The 8 minute long short film leaves the audience with many questions that should be raised when meeting someone new. At its core, the film is not only about the usual "no" reaction, but from the perspective of women who says yes. What does that yes imply when it is coming from a woman who has been raped or taken advantage of before? What does it imply when a guy says no? Is it out of respect and care? These are some of the questions that we need to ask ourselves when meeting a potential significant other. The concept of Si is incredibly strong and powerful. Ponferrada has done a spectacular job at conveying this important message into our lives with this movie. The film may be short but it takes you on a rollercoaster of emotions and at the end, it teaches a powerful lesson to both men and women about the idea of asking for consent.
This 2021 short film is an engrossing tale about the main characters' struggles to make decisions. This little play explores the concept of consent and what it means to be a victim. When a young guy meets a beautiful lady in a bar, his moral judgments are tested when a sad discovery reveals the woman's past.
Anita exemplifies the critical nature of sexual consent. The plot develops as a result of both characters' mental struggles. Anita's choice to say yes embodies the accomplishments of women who have attained mental strength. Sexual activity must always be consented to by both participants. Anita encountered both scenarios throughout her life; she wished she could say no but could not do so in one. She lacked the ability to refuse.
The short film's plot boldly leaves much to the audience's interpretation and omits explanations of victimhood. When we refer to someone as a victim, we imply that they are treated poorly or unjustly as a result of their allegation. This is in no way a detriment to the character-driven narrative, which places a premium on the connection between the two protagonists and gradually develops each of them to explain the schism. The audience's interest is piqued by the characters as well as their adventure. The film is worth having a look at.

Before being sexual with someone, you need to know if they want to be sexual with you too. The character Anita shows the importance of sexual consent. The story progresses through the mental conflicts of both characters. Anita's decision to say yes represents the women, who achieved the power of the mind. Setting your personal boundaries and respecting your partner's are all part of consenting and asking for consent - and checking in if things aren't clear. For sex to be consensual, both parties must agree to it every time. In her life Anita faced both situations, in one situation she wanted to say no, but she was helpless. She lost her power to say no.

Plot-wise, the short film leaves a lot to audience's perspective and confidently omits explanation of victimization. When we talk about a person being victimised, it means they're being treated badly or unfairly because they have made a complaint about sexual harassment or racial and religious vilification. This is no detraction from the character-focused story which puts the relationship between the two leads at the heart, and builds each of the pair slowly and patiently to explain the rift. It is the characters and their journey which grab the audience's intrigue.
Sí is a brilliant short with a fantastic flow. It's certainly worth checking out. With convincing acting and has a plot that the viewer will want to follow.
