Avis à la une
This movie has a very serious social message. There are "other" people living next to us. But how cleverly they cook food, clean the house, navigate a new space, work, learn, love, hear things we miss. It seems to us that these people need "help." But the Director of the film shows us through the example of Eflatun, who teaches Oflaz (i.e. Not vice versa), that their capabilities are unique.
Two eternal questions of life are touched upon: whether we are the masters of our own destiny, or everything is predetermined in the world and not accidental?
Regardless of awards this film hasn't won or has already won in various International Movie Festivals, for me, this man with a universal soul - Director Cüneyt Karakus, has already received his Grand Prize. To see the problem of society in such a way, to nurture the idea for many years, to choose so perfectly the actors, musicians, animators! Bravo!

The film Eflatun is a high-quality, "tasty" festival movie. The Director Cüneyt Karakus, who wrote the script, was inspired for creation of Eflatun by a meeting with a visually impaired man on the street. He offered to help him, but to his shame (by his own admission) he realized that he didn't know how to behave with that man. Cüneyt Karakus dedicated this movie to all people with disabilities.
The main emphasis in the film is made on details and seemingly insignificant little things. The Director especially emphasizes sounds, smells and imagination
Kerem Bürsin playing Oflaz in this movie is again quite different than in other his works. He hardly laughed, seemed detached and lost. Meeting with Eflatun changed him, or on the contrary, reminded him of what he once was. Oflaz "showed" Eflatun a different world, as I thought he reminded her of her father, with whom she had special relationships.
Several times I held back tears, the play of Kerem (one love) and Irem (bravo), touched the most delicate strings of the soul, and of course, at the end I could not resist.
It would seem to be a classic plot, the meeting of a guy and a girl, but the aftertaste of watching this film is felt like warmth inside, as from a cup of hot chocolate on a cold day.

This film became a symphony for me! Enchanting in its sounds and beyond.
What a magnificent sound this film has! There is something incredible about it! A perfect harmony! And, of course, the voice of Oflaz (Kerem Bürsin).
I found the director's choice to show the world through the prism of shimmering colors and shadows in Eflâtun's imagination extraordinary and original.
And, of course, symbolism is present in everything: in the sounds, colors, objects, phrases, movements, and scenes. Nothing is superfluous. A high and perfect harmony of every element.
A very delicate, fascinating, aesthetic, and at the same time deeply touching and passionate film. A work that leaves a deep mark on the soul and an endless trail of reflections on the meaning of life.
In one word, a symphony that mesmerizes from the very first note and doesn't let go until the final chord.
Kerem Bürsin is incredible here, as he is everywhere! Once again, I was amazed by his outstanding acting professionalism! A true master of transformation! The actress Irem Helvacioglu, who played Eflâtun, was very natural and authentic.

I'm impressed with the film.
I watched it in one breath. Kerem Bursin's voice is magic!!!
Before the movie started, the Director said that he wanted to understand the world of blind people, to take this world into his world of sighted people and take the feelings of blind people emotionally.
I liked the fact that Kerem is not pulling a blanket on himself here, so the role of Eflatun is a major one.
Irem is just peerless!!! To play a blind girl without emphasizing her inferiority, to show all the beauty and complexity of her worldview through sounds, smells... Amazing!
About Kerem: He's different in this film. I haven't seen him like this anywhere else. Soft, minor, but also very sensual and deep!!! Not one hug, not one kiss, but how he conveys that love has entered his life, not tactile, but on the level of accepting the inner world of Eflatun - a seemingly completely blind world, but full of the colors of music, songs, smells and associations. Magic...
The movie has so many beautiful frames with Kerem's hands, eyes, there is no emphasis on muscularity and brutality. The focus is on the eyes, lips, hands. And of course on the voice!!!
I understand that this film is not for the general public, but for those who understand and feel love at the level of communication, words, half-eyes....

The film is measured, unhurried, you have time to comprehend the plot. There are pauses between dialogues and in such pauses you leaten to silence, or some natural sounds: if the characters are in a watch workshop, you can hear the clock running; if they are on the sea shore, you hear the sound of the surf, but all these sounds are soft and unobtrusive.
The sound of rain...- there is a separate story related to rainy days and umbrellas. Music and sounds represent key aspects in the story and in the life of Eflatun (the main women character).
Both actors play great and no one hogs the blanket. Everything is very calm, without quarrels and scandals. Kerem Bursin here acts in a completely new image. When I watched the movie I did not see Kerem and totally believed he was Oflaz.
The movie makes you want to watch it a second time, it makes you think. And definitely recommend to watch Eflatun on the big screen (if you have a chance).
Cuneyt Karakus (the Director of the film) told what motivated him to make this story and the actors magnificently embodied in this movie his feelings, emotions, his inner world.
