An ugly distraction

Never in my life have I seen acting as wooden as Remo Rivero's in this film.

It's so bad, in fact, that you start contemplating whether the name of the film, Beautiful Distraction, is a parody. Because there is nothing beautiful about this film - but it is distracting, I'll give it that, it lives up to half of its title.

Despite this being a modest and insignificant amateur project, it's still almost stupefying how any performer can step in front of the camera with this little understanding of his craft. Has Rivera ever watched a film in his life? Has he truly ever even understood what acting actually is? Because this isn't it. This is 19 minutes of pure cringe.

I do recommend Beautiful Distraction for anyone who wants a good laugh: just when you thought you know what bad acting was, along comes Remo Rivero and takes it to a whole new level.

Simple, honest, and unexpectedly moving

I watched Beautiful Distraction without knowing much about it, and honestly, it surprised me in the best way. There's something really honest and grounded about how the story unfolds. It doesn't try too hard to impress, but somehow it hits you emotionally when you least expect it. Remo Rivero was fantastic, his performance felt so natural, like he wasn't acting at all, just existing in the character. The cinematography was subtle but beautiful, and the pacing felt just right. It leaves space for you to feel and reflect. It's one of those rare short films that lingers quietly in your mind long after it ends. Really glad I watched this.
