Alien

I've now seen the first episode twice, once at Comic-Con and once at a local theater screening. I'm glad to get the cinema experience at least once, because this FELT like a movie. If it had been stretched to an hour, it would have easily slotted right in as another chapter in the film franchise, and probably immediately jumped into the top three there. Compelling characters all around, but Sydney Chandler's anime-like eyes just pull you in and you can't look away from her when she's on screen. Only one episode, to be sure, and they'll need to stick the landing, but In Hawley I trust.

This is essentially an alien series made for Netflix / Hulu millennial gen z audience. Romulus had that feel to it too but this is even more so. The biggest problem is the cast . I just really don't know what they're thinking lately with the terrible actors they're selecting . It's like they are obligated to check boxes and not actually look for talent . It throws the whole thing off for the alien themes. You feel like you're watching tik tok aliens. The one thing this series has going for it is the actual aliens . Some even better than Romulus as far as visuals . The concept was slightly interesting for the earth settings . Overall though about what I expected a series to be . Another Disney swing and a miss. Bring back Ridley at the helm.

Just got back from an early screening of episode one. My wife and I really enjoyed it and we're ready for episode 2. Production quality is through the roof! Set design for the ship is ripped straight out of the first Alien and it looks and feels organic. The world building is interesting and they breathe fresh air into the technology and creatures. Strong cast and a tone that is very Alien. Stoked to see where this season goes!

Saw the premiere episode in a local movie theater and it did not disappoint! Fantastic marketing move by Disney to get the word out about the show. They clearly know what they have and they want to generate buzz around this series. This has the potential to be a massive success. It has the feel of a traditional Alien entry, however it has brand new elements that will make it a unique, standalone project. If there's one takeaway I got from seeing the first episode, it is that Noah Hawley is going to deliver like he always has.
