How to have no credibility - have dreadlocks at 40.
Combine Ghost Hunters and Burning Man with ridiculously bad local theater acting.
You'll see what I am talking about if you have an hour to waste.
I was excited because I thought this show was about retrieving gold from an underground cave that was hard to get to. It's disappointing because it rather focuses on a cursed or haunted land. Every supernatural moment, emergency, or finding is clearly staged will leave you either laughing or saying bull s$&t. It's sad because this show could have been better. A while ago, the History Channel stopped making shows about history and decided to focus on aliens and the end of the world. This show is an example of the Discovery Channel doing the same by focusing on ghosts, conspiracy theories, and false emergencies instead of great discoveries.
This show plays off of the fame of Skinwalker Ranch, which is a superb show, by the way, but this show comes in from a very different tack. It's way less scientific and ecologically considerate, with some different mysteries connected to the location, as well as some similar phenomena, and the excitement of poachers, thieves and spies. I find it to be a satisfying continuation of a show I cannot get enough of (Skinwalker), but a zanier version. I call it the "Hillbilly Version of Skinwalker" when I describe it to others I'm recommending it to. The accredited professionals they have aiding their search on this show are real and serious about what they do. I believe there is credence in this show, the history, and their quest; it's just different. If you don't like it, so be it, spare us your rantings.
I mean it seems a bit cheesy, and so on, but it is very entertaining, and I like the mystery aspect real or not. It is not perfection by any means, but quite enjoyable to pass time. For those claiming it is all fake, I have seen LITERALLY the same few dozen guys make reviews on EVERY show similar to this, and say the same exact things. Semi Trolling all shows, makes me think they really did not WANT to like it.
I liked the first 2 episodes. Yes, they were kind of hokey and lame. But, they were enjoyable. Then it all went towards the staged stuff and paranormal stuff. I won't give away any spoilers. But the last few episodes have been more X-Files sort of stuff than treasure hunting. Were into season 2 now. Just finished the 2nd episode and we've got about 20 minutes of actual 'searching for treasure' and the rest is conspiracy theory mumbo jumbo. There was a suicide outside of their gate. Nothing to do with the show. But they're spending about 1/4th of the show investigating it. And they found some wooden timbers in an underground cave last season. This season they're making a borehole to drag them out. Why waste all that $$ on old logs? Why aren't they 'treasure searching' instead. I keep watching hoping they'll actually find something. But I'm not hopeful.
