Alex

A highly unusual dark comedy about Alex, a depressed young man (Alexandre Partersnot) who tries to end his life once and for all, yet he keeps failing at each attempt. During one of his attempts he is interrupted by someone at the door and turns out to be a neighbor (Vanussa Spindler), of whom they're not exactly close but because of perceivable reasons she felt compelled to reach him and help him. And if things were going to a helpful result, it all changes again when a couple of robbers break into the man's house and take the woman hostage. What happens now?

There isn't much of a meaning but it's quite entertaining as the little story progresses with one twist after another. I usually disagree with stories that come out of nowhere and end up nowhere, but this one has some slight change to the main character where audiences need to be open minded and try to figure out what goes on in Alex head. While we don't know exactly the extension of Alex problems, which may affect some viewers empathy on him, the great acting by Patersnot makes it a pretty cool experience. Alex doesn't say much - I think he only has two lines in the movie while the neighbor talks and talks - so even with that look of pain and agony, he brings some humored quality to it in spite of the dark theme. The major plot twist sequence is an hilarious action sequence that that scene alone worths the view. 8/10.
