If I may make one contribution to Jim Lyon's understanding of what is commonly referred to as ghost phenomenon. I have seen the Etheric Double, in ordinary reality following a collision between my head and a tree, in the total darkness of a moonless night. Our etheric body is the subtle substance which joins our physical with our astral bodies, and under the right conditions, such as imminent death, it can be projected by the owner as streams of ectoplasm from facial orifices. This substance has no life or consciousness, and after being released it operates on memory or habit. It is the lifeless wraith that can be seen visiting graveyards. This is not a disincarnate spirit lost in this dimension. It cannot harm anyone, but it can inspire fear of the unknown. Carl Jung was skilled in projecting his ectoplasm and boasts how he did it in the presence of his mentor Freud, without his knowledge.
