Avis à la une
Plot is nothing special but is well-acted. Think what you will of a show, but the comments from some westerners in these reviews is disgustingly ignorant bigotry. I'm an American who's been living in Thailand for over 5 years. Thailand has corruption, but no more than take your pick of western nations. It's not a taboo subject either, many other Thai crime dramas reference it. There's now a movie sequel to this series called Bangkok Breaking: Heaven and Hell. It also starts showing corruption early on... and guess who the corrupters are... moguls who want to sell out Thailand to foreigner 'investors'. While both series and movie are fictional stories, it's quite accurate to say that a sizable chunk of the corruption here in due to western meddling in Thai internal affairs.
One of the first Thai series I watched really enjoyed it, can't wait for the second season
Really worth a watch,
But in Thai with English subtitles.........
Confusing first episode, draggy, dramatic, predictable. But it did give me some thrills.
The story was entertaining through episode 3, although not especially original. Appreciated the way they addressed pervasive corruption and the public's acceptance of it. Some very unnecessary brutality. Most of the characters seemed like real people. The acting was very good. However, after investing the time to watch 3 episodes, the subtitles were missing in large measure throughout episode 4, making it impossible to follow the story as closely. I didn't downgrade the score for that, but maybe I should have. Anyway, I quit during episode 4. If you're not a native speaker, might as well not bother getting started.
Very enjoyable indeed with an absorbing storyline, great action, strong lead acting and readable subtitles. Wanchai (Sukollawat Kanarot) and Kat (Sushar Manaying) portray likeable and sympathetic characters with rounded personalities. The themes are topical and boldly-dealt with. It is a piece of Thai TV which will endure. It helps if you are used to Thai film and TV, but this deserves to appeal to people new to Thai international cinema/TV. Hard not to binge watch and definitely NOT a 'naam now' soap. We really liked it - good fun, good humour, well-produced, well-directed and a massive credit to cast, writers and crew. On the 'watch again' list.
