Muren

Game show flawed on a conceptual level.

There is nothing compelling with this show. In essence it is televised, intellectual, bullying. The format is a quiz. Some random guys and gals are faced with five "experts" within various fields of knowledge - after which a duel commences.

Not surprisingly... the challengers have a hard time running the gauntlet. The "experts" are then left gloating and applauding their own "wisdom".

Small mercy that; many of the "experts" aren't particularly expert within their field and, at times, the laymen manage to "get in a punch".

Watching Goliath relentlessly pounding David to the ground makes for really poor television. In essence the participants are only canon fodder in a program that is set up to make "celebrity experts" seem smarter than they actually are - while patronising well educated members of the public.

It's a bullying game - and in being such there are no winners. Both bullies and the bullied are losers in the end. Bullying for entertainment, maybe that's what it always was about - entertainment for the onlookers. Chances are that that the onlookers from the school yard are the very same people rating Muren with an eight on IMDb - and likely the very same that will slate this review.
