This is the kind of movie I love: scary with a ton of suspense. I really love when a movie makes me sit on the edge of my seat and time stands still, until I throw my popcorn in the air. The writer/director is one and the same person and he has done an excellent job in both roles. Really enjoyed this movie 👍🏻👍🏻

The movie starts in a confession booth where the main character pours out his heart and talks about losing his faith in god while the priest's shadow disappears. I thought that was a fantastic way to start this movie, which becomes a horror movie as much as an examination of faith. There's a lot going on this fairly slow paced indie movie. It's not perfect, but it's good. Every scene is needed for the end game. It does get going after awhile but if you're looking for a studio slasher then I would suggest looking elsewhere. The score, sound, sets and cinematography are all top notch. Martin Harris is really strange and good, Bee Vang is great and the rest of the cast works fine. This is more Rosemary's Baby than Halloween or Exorcist for that matter. It's also certainly not the brainless horror we have all become so accustomed to. Check it out if you're looking for a creepy story with some unique surprises.
I loved this film. It is not like every other horror movie out there. It kept me thinking and trying to analyze the whole time! I was completely unable to predict what would happen next.
I don't always love horror movies, but this one was just the perfect amount of suspense, drama, and mystery. Not too much gore, but I'd say it has every element that it needs to make any horror movie lover a fan!
I loved the actors' portrayal of the characters, too. When a movie can make you both hate and love a character at different times, that's pretty amazing. The camera work and visuals are stunning, the set is flawless.
Nicholas Bain is a superb director with an obvious love and respect for cinema. He brings fresh vision to the film world and it is like a breath of fresh air.
I simply cannot wait to see what he does next.

Given my love of all things horror, of course I opted to watch the 2023 movie "Voice of Shadows", as I had the chance to do so here in 2025. Sure, I had never heard about the movie, and thus I didn't know what I was in for, and thus had zero expectations to the movie. As such, I suppose writer and director Nicholas Bain had every opportunity to entertain me with this movie.
I struggled immensely with getting into the storyline that Nicholas Bain put together. There just simply wasn't enough of anything entertaining, scary or even remotely worthwhile happening on the screen, and it was quite a battle of wills to sit through the ordeal that is "Voice of Shadows". Running at 90 minutes, I was still at a loss as to what this movie was about or what the point was in the storyline at the 60 minute marker.
I was not familiar with the cast ensemble in the movie, which was actually something that spoke in favor of the movie, as I do enjoy watching new and unfamiliar talents on the screen whenever I sit down to watch a movie. But the actors and actresses literally had nothing to work with here.
"Voice of Shadows" was a really pointless and forgettable horror experience, and not one I would recommend you to waste 90 minutes on watching. Some of us literally suffered through this dumpster fire of a movie, so you don't have to; you're quite welcome.
There was a priest in the movie, whom said "May she rest in peace," which could also very well be said about this movie.
My rating of "Voice of Shadows" lands on a two out of ten stars.

I am not sure where the 10 star reviews come from but this was more like a student film and than a real production Some good concepts and it looks like they have some new actors a chance and you have to get started somewhere. I would say give it a chance and hope for better the next time but know what you are getting into. There are some good laughs in there and I did like the story concept. However there are some huge questions to be left with and a lot of details to overlook.
We appreciate a good B movie but the reviews really led us astray and I would have given this more slack if I didn't have such expectations going in.
