Avis à la une
I love Pete Davidson I'd totally hangout with him and Kaley Coco is great! Kinda clever how it's about a tanning bed that time travels and charming romance throughout a fair amount of mental illness mashed in well. I'd love to experience the charm the 2 leads seem to go it's fascinating even it's slightly dark all the cute bonding is a genius flow of events. Not much comedy only a couple silly bits, sweet, great stories, and wow this isn't what I expected it stays interesting regardless of what others said I don't think it's slow, it's brilliant fun! The poop out the end of a rainbow reference is a awesome line, I'm glad I put this on.
"Meet Cute" is this year's "Destination Wedding" / "Always Be My Maybe" - ie a fresh, edgy, original, funny, darkish, brilliantly written rom-com delivered thru two excellent leads. Via Deborah S Craig's time-machine adorbs (but sad) Kaley Cuoco (sensational) keeps re-living her first random NY 'date' with Pete Davidson... but somehow it doesn't stay fresh, and her time-travelling tweaks to 'fix' him only make it worse. Will their 'love' survive the night(s)? Noga Pnueli's superb debut script cleverly mirrors real relationship issues, but stays bright, fun & engaging. Props to all (inc director Alex Lehmann). "50 First Dates" x "Groundhog Day" = a belter.
I would ignore the trailer. I liked this movie. Like a book you should give it at least 15-20 minutes and if you still aren't intrigued then it's not for you. I think labeling this as a rom com isn't right. It's dark. I think most of the bad reviews from viewers and so called "professional reviewers" I feel didn't closely watch the movie, not their type of genre, have something against Pete Davidson, or just didn't understand it. Then there are those who really didn't like it, which to me are the reviews I respect. No movie is perfect. I think people with mental health struggles will get some type of emotion out of it as there are some scenes that hit deep. Pete and Kaley have awesome chemistry.
Please ignore the bad ratings. This movie is falsly advertised and promoted as a romcom. But in fact it's a heartfelt dramedy about struggling with love because of emotional trauma. And How to Deal with it. So it's not what you would expect regarding the trailer.
Liked the overall atmosphere and cinematography.
It shines with bittersweetness, small moments and touching philosophical aspects. Story and characters are relatable for those, who suffered the same in their lives. It may not be as enjoyable if you are not aware of what the characters are going through. However, it's told in a sweet way. Depends on you.
Worth a watch. 🖤

Firstly, if you haven't realised by now that going into a movie with very specific expectations based on a synopsis or trailer is a bad idea, I just don't know what to tell you. Reviews are hardly any more reliable but I'm going to try anyway....
Now we have that out of the way -
As others have mentioned, this isn't a rom com. It isn't really a comedy in general; there are genuinely humorous moments (think wry grin as opposed to outright laughter) but the film is not trying hard to be funny as its main objective. It's also not a sci-fi. The time machine essentially serves as a McGuffin, it facilitates the telling of the story but is not central to the actual message of the story. Pulp fiction was not about what is inside the briefcase, and this is not a movie about time travel. It's about emotional baggage, mental health, love and the futility of trying to force someone else to change.
This is one of the better movies I've seen in quite a while. The acting, dialogue and cinematography are great. The plot is smart without trying too hard (Christopher Nolan, I'm looking at you) and deftly tackles some moderately dark subject matter in a tasteful and realistic way.
I hope I've convinced you to give it a try. If not, I'll come back tomorrow and perhaps then it'll work...
