Pixar movie Lightyear has a similar plot but this show is actually done much better. I like the occasional kids show and hearing just the title it immediately caught my attention. Its very cute and has some good humor for a kids show, but definitely geared towards 5-10 year olds. It's more entertaining than amphibia's first season imo. Has some jokes that kids probably wouldn't understand referencing older sci-fi names. I absolutely adore the art style of this show, very cute.
Its a good show and if you have kids I would definitely recommend to watch this with them, cute dogs and silly space fun.

So good. My son likes it even more than me. I adore the fact that there is a story, but you can watch more than half the episodes randomly and not miss anything. The rewatch ability of this is impressive.
The feels, man. Be ready for them.
((P. S. Nomi is amazing.))

This show combines cute animated dogs and space action filled with fantasy violence. The characters are relatable and the plot ages well with modern kid's cartoons. Even though the age rating is TV-Y7 for me in the United States, this cartoon is also enjoyable for an older audience. There is also a diverse section of dog breeds, like Corgis and Boston Terriers. A storyline of what happens in the dogs' space base mashed with dogs fighting space monsters makes for an interesting and conceptually stunning show. The cinematography in this show also ages well with the modern era of kids cartoons. However, it would be nice to dig deep into the dogs' personal lives and how they play into the show.
Dogs in Space is just one of the few shows to actually get TV right. The shows fits all ages and its really enjoyable because there's an actual storyline. It's not just filler episode that have no context and meaning and some of the jokes actually had me laughing. The animation might seem simple and lazy but it allows for some very quick and fluid movements between characters. All of the characters have their own motivations and owners. For example Garbage is motivated by the fact Chelsea is counting on him to save earth. Out of all, The show is a solid 9/10. Really enjoyable and over all a good time.

With the multi-punch comedy timing of shows like Futurama, Simpsons, Family Guy and a lot of the Adult Swim fare, Dogs in Space feels almost a little too fast or complex for kids. But it does truly adhere to being rated Y7, even though just barely. There are a lot of hard sci-fi references and jokes about psychological or 'adult problems' for the parents that sometimes feel a little awkward or over the heads of the age intended- but nothing is actually offensive or inappropriate. There are a few scenes, situations and creatures that may be scary or gross for some kids, but there's not any (red) blood or anything more than cartoon violence.
Captain Garbage is a more likeable Zapp Brannigan, Captain Kirk, and Homer Simpson tolled up in dog form and Haley Joel Osment knocks it out of the lark. The crew are all likeable sci-fi stereotypes, although Ed, who is kind of like the Bender of the crew, is the most questionable character and possible bad influence for a Y7 series. As a rather one-note greedy looter/pickpocket/scoundrel with some other shady dealings, he feels a bit out of place in the crew and show.
Overall, for nerdy parents and their kids who already have some classic sci-fi under their belts, it's a really good series full of good jokes and references. If your kids haven't already seen any Star Trek, it could be a good introduction, and if they have, the viewing will be that much richer.
