    I did have a blast!!

I couldn't find an official English title for this film yet on the internet but the literal translation as per google and official subtitles is I'm going to have a blast/good time. And, I did have a blast last night watching it.

The plot follows David and Llayla, childhood sweethearts, who meet after 30 years and find that the spark between them is still alive. Their story is told mostly in flashbacks recounting the days of their gang "Shorties".

The movie uses a light comical setting sprinkled with a few song and dance sequences that light up the screen play. It heavily relies on the music of famous Spanish band "Hombres G". To be honest I have no idea of Spanish music, but I loved how the songs were used in the movie. The well-choreographed dance sequences and kids singing in their own voice worked well. Its not a full blown musical and the peppy numbers strewn across add to the charm. I couldn't help being swept over by a strong nostalgic feeling seeing various stages of life and school they go through. The shorties bonded well and showed its not only cute faces but performance that matters. David Serrano does a commendable job as the director to get the most out of the child actors and to make everything believable.

The movie was a breath of fresh air, and I had a smile plastered over my face throughout the runtime. It did well to evoke all the right emotions and made sure I had a really fun time watching it. I would recommend it to anyone looking for an easy, light watch and which uplifts their mood.

    Solid 8/10 from me.

    Fun times at the movies...

Well, technically my living room. I really enjoyed this little Spanish comedy (not laugh out loud but some good moments -- watched it in Spanish so I can't speak for the dubbed version). The young actors are very good (especially young Luis) and whilst not a musical, it has some well choreographed singing numbers. If you're looking for something light that doesn't take itself too seriously, this movie will do the trick. I don't know what else to add... have another 151 characters required in this review. Only 99 now... getting there. Still here? Go put that movie on, it's on Prime. You'll have a nice smile on your face by the end.

Amazing movie for those who lived thru mid 80s and early 90s

This movie gave me the chills since I was a teen when devuelveme a chica became a worldwide success in the spanish speaking world(28 countries including Spain). When I went to largest public university in my country after being in a best private school in town, I couldn't fit there for obvious reasons. There were only 2 students total in the whole faculty(among 1000 students) who had a car, including myself and not even all college teachers had computers back in 1989, I did. Since I had an obsession with Hombres G, whoever entered my vehicle which BTW there were a lot of females and some close guys(wingman), they all had to listen to Hombres G(mandatory) which was the only "official" cassette to be played. Quickly word spread and soon I was known at university as the "HombresG" guy. I had the coolest nickname because of my music preference towards them and for always carrying latest detachable Pioneer Car Audio Player along my books when I was in class(for security reasons). Many women at university were into me as well because of this. Movie brought so many back memories back those great years I had (1986~1990)

    I Didn't Have a Good Time

"Voy a pasármelo bien" opens in Valladolid, 1989, introducing us to David and Layla, two teenagers obsessed with the music of Hombres G. Despite a series of awkward attempts at courtship, their friendship blossoms into a close bond. Thirty years later, the story jumps to the present, with the characters now played by Raúl Arévalo and Karla Souza, revealing that their feelings for each other never truly faded.

The screenplay, written by David Serrano and Luz Cipriota, attempts to juggle a double timeline: the naive joy of adolescence versus the emotional complexity of adulthood. However, the transition between these timelines is jarring and inconsistent; the film never quite lands its shift from "1980s musical comedy" to "contemporary romantic drama." The narrative structure feels lopsided, with the first act overstaying its welcome in schoolyard antics, while the adult storyline lacks emotional depth.

Musically, the film leans heavily on the catalog of Hombres G as nostalgic bait, but the musical numbers feel forced. The choreography is predictable, and the songs are awkwardly inserted into the plot, more like clunky interludes than meaningful moments. Though Serrano's direction ensures a visually appealing production - from the period costumes to the Valladolid locations - he struggles to breathe life into the characters, who remain flat and one-dimensional.

The young cast, led by Izan Fernández and Renata Hermida, brings charm to their roles, though their dialogue is bogged down by teen-romance clichés. As for the adult leads, Arévalo and Souza try to bring emotional weight to their characters, but a lack of chemistry and a flimsy script make their connection feel hollow.

And then there's Dani Rovira - once again, and true to form, appalling. His performance is both negligent and tone-deaf, confirming his status as an actor who is even less funny than he is talented - something that, frankly, seemed impossible. His presence feels like a leftover from a different, much worse movie, and adds nothing but discomfort to the scenes he occupies.

Ultimately, "Voy a pasármelo bien" aims to be a warm homage to friendship and first love, but ends up a hollow celebration that neither moves nor entertains. Despite a few visually pleasing moments and a polished technical finish, the film flounders due to its weak pacing, underwritten characters, and nostalgia that never rises above shallow musical fan service.

Best thing: The lovingly recreated 1980s setting in Valladolid.

Worst thing: Disjointed structure, flat characters, uninspired musical numbers... and Dani Rovira.

    Really enjoyable and fresh movie

Really enjoyable movie that brings back those very nice memories of the Spain in the 80's when kids could still enjoy being kids in an innocent manner at the same time than discovering all the modern things that the era was bringing. Very colorful and fun to see. It is also a homage to the Hombres G, mythical band that was the soundtrack for many kids and teenagers of my era, with many of their most iconic songs perfectly adapted to the movie. If you lived that, you will like to listen to all of those again and, if not, you have the perfect opportunity to do so. You can also enjoy beautiful shots of Valladolid which provides an excellent background for the movie. A blow of fresh air for the Spanish film industry.
