Everybody Still Hates Chris

What a great idea to continue a show in an animation way! That is so creative! I believe it is because the actor who played Chris doesn't like much the show anymore, I think it is because of Brazilian fans, that are fascinated with the show and he didn't understood it well, as the other actors are real big celebrities in Brazil he decided to refuse it (that's why he is really hated in Brazil haha) anyways Everybody Hates Chris was one of my favorite shows in my childhood, I grew up watching it on TV and it is so good to have new things about this family. If you didn't watch the live action sitcom please watch it, it is iconic and legendary! Terry Crews and Tichina Arnold are the soul of the show! And the support characters are so funny and even crazier! Loved it.

I had somewhat high hopes for this because they brought back the majority of the original cast but this is so disappointing to watch. Even though it has only been one season, this show has been so disappointing and boring I couldn't just sit back and let it go unnoticed. The writing for this show is really terrible. The basic animation style doesn't help the show either. I can only remember laughing hard at two jokes ever. It doesn't have the same tone as the original show even though it's still the same cast. The writing doesn't give the cast the ability to make things funny. The original show allowed the original cast to be really funny because they are a talented bunch of actors. The only thing to blame is the dull and dry comedy, not the cast. I'm not sure if this will get a second season and most likely it will but the writing has to improve. If it wasn't for the original cast coming back, I wouldn't have tuned in at all.

I find it creative how they made this an animated sequel to the original series while still giving us fresh new plots to follow along with as well. I think the humor is still very funny and despite Tyler James Williams not returning to voice Chris, I think Tim Johnson Jr. Is pretty convincing even with a different vocal tone. Only criticism I think I have is in the way some characters look with this animation style, it's not too distracting but noticable the more you watch the show (Caruso's design especially). If you are a fan of the original show every character reference will be noticeable as well, and if you've never seen the original show I do recommend giving it a shot since it's available on a lot of platforms. I sorta wish this show wasn't stuck on Comedy Central only, outside cable it can be hard to watch.

Update: After 4+ episodes in, it's still surprising me how funny it is, so far Season 1 is great!

I loved the original series. It wasn't the best show on TV, but it was funny and had it's moments. I lasted less than 10 minutes on this reboot. Much like the Good Times cartoon, I asked myself in the first few seconds, "What's the point"?

Nothing about this reboot or continuation reminded me of the original and I think the only advantage Netflix brings is the ability to lean more into the racism and profanity that the network show had to steer clear of.

For some of us, Afrocentric TV is central to our media intake, but just like junk food and poorly reviewed cuisine, if you partake enough of the bad stuff, it doesn't matter what the content is, it will make you sick.

This will certainly be a single season entry, then forgotten and lost. Save yourself some time, don't watch this!
