The name of cabaret "Valetti" is taken from Rosa Valetti, a famous German cabaret actress, chanson singer and actress, who in 1933 migrated from Nazi Germany to Vienna and Prague and in 1936 to Palestina.

Gaffes
When Hans is dating the girl in his flat in 1936 he puts on a record of "You Are My Sunshine" by Bing Crosby, Voctor Young and his Orchestra, a record that was released in 1941. Also the song was written in 1937 and the first release in 1939 by the Pine Ridge Boys.

Hans Zeisig: This is the starsky of 1939. This makes no difference for most people but for astrologers the stars are some kind of newspaper of tomorrow you can read today. If fthis newspaper would actually exist I would like to subscribe it because never my stars were standing so bad like today. When I was thinking of stars I was thinking of Hollywood, of good Cognac and of Hotels. About hotels they don't have to have 5 stars. There are many nice small hotels around the world with four or three stars, sometimes even only two stars. But this particular hotel has only one star and this should make you supsicious. So much fun!

I am attending a film festival in Porto and so far this was the best movie in competition. I don't watch a lot of European films because they usually don't open in Portugal, but I try to use this opportunities to watch different movies and this time I wasn't disappointed. It's a story of two comedy actors in Berlin in 1939. One of them plays Hitler and the other Stalin to a room full of Nazi officers. The beginning is absolutely great and I could't stop laughing. With the war both comedians have to run and trying to reach Hollywood they end up in Moscow. At this point the film looses a bit of its initial vigor but I enjoyed it anyway and although the end is a bit predictable, it is still a very enjoyable movie and totally worth the time.
