If you thought "Mafia II" was all about stylish crime drama, sharp suits, and a protagonist torn between loyalty and ambition, then the bold DLC "The Betrayal of Jimmy" will quickly show you that the rules of this game are very different.
This expansion hits like a sucker punch to the sentimental hearts of Vito Scaletta fans. The main character, Jimmy, is a no-nonsense, straight-to-the-point kind of guy. He doesn't care about moral dilemmas or philosophical talk about "family". Jimmy is old-school: if there's a problem, it needs to be eliminated. Fast. Preferably with a hail of bullets.
At its core, we're still in Empire Bay - with the same familiar streets, cars, and gameplay mechanics. The shooting is punchy, the driving is still smooth and satisfying. But the pacing is a whole different beast. In the main game, you could take your time, cruise through the city, enjoy the music, and soak in the atmosphere. Here, you're handed a gun right away and told: "Get to work".
Missions in "The Betrayal of Jimmy" are short and brutal. Got someone to whack? Done. Need a car stolen? No problem. Jimmy is all action - so expect to be speeding through the city, adrenaline pumping, with a couple of SMGs riding shotgun.
The gunfights are a highlight. There are plenty of them, and they're fast-paced and straightforward. And once again, the city looks fantastic. The visuals are sharp, the streets detailed, and everything runs smoothly - pushing you toward more chaos with every mission.
"The Betrayal of Jimmy" is made for those moments when you don't want to think too hard or dive into lengthy dialogue. You just want to hit the streets, shoot some bad guys, and feel like a walking solution to every criminal problem. And on that front, the DLC delivers beautifully.
The verdict? This is a solid, satisfying DLC for players who value action and speed. No deep drama, no heavy storytelling - and that's perfectly fine. Jimmy didn't come to chat. He came to get the job done. And all that's left for us is to enjoy this criminal sprint while it lasts.
