Avis à la une
This small budget indie heist film is a type of political heist with a goal of nit to enrich the capers themselves but for a bigger outcome for social reasons. Yes its a small budgeted movie but its story and pacing keeps you interested and moving forward through the story and characters. Over all acting was on point with the cast, some really nice aerial shots too. The Whip is a nice divergent heist film that doesn't show up too often. The stakes are different and more personal than get rich quick kinda robbery then hide in a none extradition type of country. Over all this was a fine capper of a film.
I was gripped from the start - empathising with the characters being let down by the system and hoping they were able to find a way around it. The way that British politics is explored was refreshing and, quite honestly, educational at points. This was a British heist movie with grit, unexpected pops of humour and exploring the real struggle that most of society face in some way or another against those who hold and abuse power. Great to see a truly independent film - the energy was always moving forwards and great to see the backdrop of London surrounding this production. It blows my mind that this film was created on an independent budget with a dedicated team - it deserves more screen time in the cinema in my opinion.
An overall watchable movie with its strong and weak points. First, it is an enjoyable story that can make you think and flows easily. It unfolds nicely and in a slow fashion with explanations to help guide it along. These explanations can easily transfer accross to our current political system, giving a real world feel that can be seen in our own lives in some aspect. On the weak points, it becomes obvious at a very early stage that this movie was made on an extremely small tight budget, but as long as you can see past that, then you should enjoy the movie. If you appreciate small indy films, then it's worth a watch.
The Whip critiques social inequality, with the villains clearly representing the entrenched political elite, but it doesn't turn preachy, instead sticking to a cleverly thought out heist plot
Once the heist begins, the action picks up quickly, with tight pacing and a few twists that keep things engaging. Although some sets feel minimal-understandable given the challenges of filming Parliament-the story moves swiftly enough to keep viewers absorbed. Overall, The Whip is an entertaining film with a strong cast and a story that's just as believable as any Ocean's caper.
Highly recommended and shows what can be done with an indie budget and a great idea.

A thought provoking and fun film.
The Whip is an independent feature that follows Sadie Baxter, played by Shin Denovan, who takes matters into her own hands when the threat of the passing a new bill will affect her sister on disability. She enlists the help of others and their minds go to work to devise a plan to steal a "blackmail" book.
The film is well acted, well written and well thought out. It is a fun journey with intense moments of will they/won't they. There are beautiful shots of the city too.
In the end, The Whip is an engaging story with likable characters and a fun movie watching experience.
