The Last Stand of Ellen Cole

With British Columbia standing in for Montana, this film works for Lin Shaye. In her 80s now, she still has that evil yet sly, funny "Time for you to die!" Demenour in her face as the queen of horror flicks. The only downfall of this film are the quick edits between Lin and the obvious stunt double in the more physical action sequences that were too demanding for Lin. Also Hart Bochnor's protrayal of Duke was way, way over the top to the point of almost cartoonish. It took away from the real serious overall plot, and backstory. If it was an attempt for some comic relief, I did not see it. The two redneck security guards fufilled that. Duke should have been played with a more sinister and serious dramatic overtone instead of this bafoon cocaine fuled nut case. The rest of the cast did well and this film is worth the watch regardless of the minor shortfalls. Lin carries this straight to streaming indie which is why I give it 7 stars. The diector was trying to give a nod to Spagetti Westerns with his music background and production color plate titleing or perhaps Kill Bill which also was unecessary. In summary, the film has a great storyline, a good plot, a great starring character with Lin Shaye but I think too many tweaks were done which just wasn't needed.
