I like the humor.. it's just not in the show.. sorry. Get a new host who actually has some empathy to the victims and victims families and friends. I'd give the show more stars if it was someone different or if she took it more seriously. Which I know she's a comedian, so that's what she's supposed to do, but I just don't enjoy it on this show. I enjoyed Hilarie on her birthday episodes.
In each episode, you get to hear true villains and sociopaths try to justify the harm they do to others, many times without a sense of self-awareness.
It reminds me of The Act Of Killing (2012), where Indonesian death squad members try to go about normal life, even though they committed genocide a generation earlier.
The interviewee's aren't debating with Jena Friedman, they're debating with the elephant in the room and Friedman is just picking out ridiculous inconsistencies.
Sorry if the "I love true crime, but this...." critics don't get it. There is no appreciation for "the process". Many of these people got away with their crimes. This show is about the crazy things obvious criminals tell others after the fact. It's very real and dark.

Wow! Look at all the hate to the host!
It's rather gross. Jenna Friedman is interested in the insane injustice that is prevalent in our legal system. These are slightly satirical because each episode topic is so infuriating! There has to be a bit of relief from how shocking some of this is. She's not doing it in a super feminist or a bleeding heart liberal way. Why on earth would so many true crime fans hate her!!? She's having a bit of fun in some of her interviews. Sometimes it is uncomfortable when she is direct, but she has asked the hard questions to famous legal celebrities that I want them to answer!
This is a great show. It's so entertaining. I wish these episodes were much longer and in-depth.
I couldn't believe the aggressive hate for a 20min, 13 episode show that is meant to poke at some real insanity in our current justice system. This is a show that exists only in the mind of the host. It was her idea, so how can you get rid of the host when you like the show? Obnoxious women on women hate is what I'm getting. Also probably some pro-defense bias, too.
It is just so sad how many ppl missed the whole point of the show due to their trite pettiness/female jealousy/ political belief bias.

I never write reviews. But stating this true crime series, I was excited and interested. But once the host started talked to anyone...it was clear that either the timing and editing on the interviews were off or she was trying to to be funny and with true crime you don't do that, and she wasn't funny at all. She appears stupid and uniformed. Also all of her interviewees regardless of which side they were on, seemed frustrated and annoyed by her questions and lack of sincerity.
It was like watching the Kardashians trying to interview very real, smart people that impacted lives for better or worse. But just say "like you know" and don't seem interested in the truth at all.

I really hope this show continues to air. I have read the negative reviews and I think that the negative reviews stim from people who don't get sarcasm. She is blunt, honest to the point that puts you on the spot. It is refreshing to see her ability to be direct and put a hilarious sarcastic spin on the interviews. I was born and raised a smart butt, after my dad. It is a fabulous quality and socks that most people can't handle it. People need to just relax and enjoy her! Watching the facial expressions, stuttering, scrambling to make excuses for why they didn't do their job well. It's about time someone had the nerve to say it on TV. My favorite crime show ever! Thank you Jena!
