Avis à la une
I didn't expect too much from the drama when I first saw the trailer, but after watching it I was amazed by how I fell in love with it! The storyline is captivating and even the side plots provoke so many feelings of happiness, laughter and even sorrow. I can't believe this drama hasn't received more attention and doesn't have a higher rating. It's a real diamond. Over the years I've watched hundreds of Kdramas and this would be one of my favourites. Do yourself a favour and watch it.
Shamelessly copy-pasting their homework from Police University (2021). Nonetheless, the drama had the worst combination of anything and everything which ruined any appeal for it. It would have been a tiny bit better if the drama didn't have any romance. Aside from the first 2 minutes and 42 seconds of the introduction scene of the first episode, this drama was a waste of carbon emissions. At the start it was interesting but toward the end the storyline kept on going and got quite boring. Tbh I only watched it because Kang Daniel was in it. There are some very funny characters and moments. The girl characters annoyed me alot while watching it. And it was quite confusing (the storyline) it felt like there was so many different parts going on and it was hard to catch up. The mix of love and cops was a good idea but an hour every episode and 16 episodes was a bit much and it would have been more enjoyable if it was shorter. I didn't even bother watching till the end. But the acting wasn't that bad.
If this were a US Series the cast, selected solely on "identity" wouldn't've gotten on so well together as those of this nice K-Drama young cast. Having just watched Episode 11, which I recommend as a well-written, feel-good episode, I was struck by the sheer charm of 8 young people really interacting with each other like human beings, rather than a collection of identity-politik epithets whom writers deem young people should be - but are not. South Korea, is definitely still a civilisation state, i.e. One where the civilisation still dictates what is artistically plausible, not some sort of neo-liberal concepts of universality, which are artistic phonies. Well done, team!
"Rookie Cops" has a good cast, and some decent plot turns. It would be a good series to watch, except it's very long (twelve episodes which are an hour long each) and has a lot of filler. No reason why episodes should be an hour long!
I also found some main plot story lines predictable (the guy gets the girl) and not well thought out (what villain doesn't check for wires). Still, the smaller moments have some charm due to good actors, like the janitor's antics, the female lead's proud parents.
It's a shame because there's a good cast here and at times decent writing. I stuck through some episodes then skipped forward, and confirmed for myself the series is a bit of a sprawling mess.
The should really blend it's A and B plot lines better as it seems like two different seasons even though it's only just one. What starts out as entry to a police academy and orientation story segues into major conspiracy land, and it's up to our trainees to solve it-except they don't have much of a challenge.
And of course there's a death, and we meet everyone's parents and hear back stories, and it's just too much for my capacity to care for six or seven families and their hopes and dreams, when there's not a compelling, unifying plot.
My review may not be fair as I skipped a lot. I don't think this is a bad show, but it's overly long and thin on plot.
