fathers and sons

Not the most comfortable theme but, in this case, wise explored.

Dying, a venerable man visits, in night, his son. He is not exacly a ghost. Only a surprising visitor because, after the death of his wife, he dessapears , with noble purpose, without announce his son . His presence in this night seems, in same measure, an enigma for him, like for his boy.

But their dialogue offers not only explanations or return across old memories but gentle - precise definition of connection between sons and fathers , from night of Superman series together to a kind of joke , pretty sadistic, of a dentist.

A beautiful, in profound sense, short film, grace to admirable story and inspired performances.

Poignant look at a father/son

Watched it yesterday. I really love stories about family/connection and how we can be vulnerable to our feelings. The performances are very moving here. The theme of a grown son connecting with his recently deceased father is something that we can relate to-the bond between children/their parents/forgiveness/the chance to connect one more time to say I love you. We have all had our ups and downs in regard to our relationships with our parents/sibling etc. The film explores this theme effectively. Michael Cuomo and Rocco Sisto are excellent as the son/father giving their characters the right amount of passion and vulnerability. Writer director Danny Ward helms all of this with a compassionate/observant eye.

Beautiful storytelling

Superman is a beautifully woven story about the relationship between a parent and child. In this film a father and son. We never know as children what our parents struggles truly are or we maybe fail to realize how human they are. Finding that moment to know each other as adults comes too late for many of us. Tenderly acted with an emotional edge by Michael Cuomo and Rocco Sisto. Great script with realistic dialogue from writer, Director and editor, Danny Ward. The music helps set the tone, composer Peter Mark Kendal. Cinematography rich in color and tone, Joel Froome. Great short film from the entire team.

Moving story of a father and son

This short movie draws you into the lives of a father and adult son. It holds you as they work through their relationship and come to new appreciations of how they each experienced pivotal moments in their lives. Including binge watching Superman together, before binge watching was a thing. I watched with my elderly mother and worried that it might seem depressing, dealing as it does with death and regrets. Nope. Like me, she was drawn to the characters, the dialog, the emotional but not sappy portrayal. Kudos to filmmaker Danny Ward on this achievement. Looking forward to seeing more of his work!
