Les Schtroumpfs - Le Film

I mean my god, with all the poorly written dialogue, world-building, forgettable soundtrack, modern references and obnoxious comedy, I can't remember what the hell I just witnessed.

This movie is so bizarre in its existence. How can anyone greenlight this? How can anyone sign onto it? How can it get all these big name stars in such a stupid abomination.

I can't believe I'm saying this, but the Sony Smurf movies are much, much better. THIS... I don't know what this is and honestly, I don't care either.

It's a strange movie with wasted talents and the less I can remember it, the better.

I can't think of one good thing that this movie did.

I took my child to what I assumed would be a fun, light-hearted kids' movie. Unfortunately, what we got was a dark, dystopian story that felt more like a Harry Potter rip-off. The plot revolves around the good in the world being threatened with destruction, wormholes, alternate dimensions, and torture scenes. At one point, the Smurfs are even trapped in a torture chamber and threatened with being crushed unless they give up information.

My kid was terrified. He started crying and asking if we could leave, but we persuaded him to stay, hoping the movie would get better and reassure him in the end. Sadly, there was never any real sense of relief or joy to balance out the intensity. The film was so distressing that my child went to bed worried about having bad dreams. He even asked if these nightmares would keep coming back.

This movie wasn't just heavy-it was outright unfunny and devoid of any real humor or light-hearted moments. I didn't laugh once, and I can't imagine how anyone would, especially children. It feels like it was made without understanding how kids process information or emotions. The references in the movie are clearly aimed at adults, and I seriously doubt the filmmakers had children in mind when crafting this.

In my opinion, the movie's rating is misleading, and I strongly believe it should be reconsidered. While it's marketed as a family movie, it's far too intense and distressing for young audiences. Please, if you're a parent, consider this before taking your kids. If your child is sensitive to darker themes or has a vivid imagination, this movie may leave them scared and confused.

I don't know if I've ever watched an animated movie and didn't at least chuckle once. My son just ate popcorn and never laughed. This kids movie had podcast, email, spam, headphones, and laptop jokes. What was the writer or writers of this movie thinking? Every actor involved had to be in it for the paycheck. James Corden probably needs the paycheck but Kurt Russell? Kurt Russell is my favorite actor and I can't believe he is apart of this garbage movie. To quote Jeremy Jahns "You will forget this movie in T-minus one day." Don't bother going to the theater, don't bother renting it, and don't even bother streaming it.

I suppose having Rihanna as a main character should have tipped me off that there would be a lot of dance numbers and random songs, but... it was also jarring to have "real" scenes thrown in, but really only for a backdrop for the smurfs to run through, not in any attempt to interact with characters there. Just CGI the whole thing if you aren't going to actually use the real world scenes for anything. In fact I think the only real world character that talked wore a helmet with tinted face screen.

As for the plot... it was okay. Not expecting much from a smurfs movie and it delivered. I think the best part of the movie was Joel the evil wizards top henchmen.

If you have a kid they will likely enjoy it, check your brain at the door and prepare for odd juxtaposition and you'll be ok.

Smurfs 2025 wow what horrible garbage mess of a movie. It's like the franchise automatically knew you've been a smurfs fan forever and there's no need to have a story or decent plot so if your not the whole lore they have created makes no sense and falls really flat. I'm not a huge smurfs fan and my son wanted to see it and even he torwards the end became very uninterested and the music was bad Nd didn't add much to the story. The animation was ok and I get they were trying to be different but sometimes being too different is a curse and it just didn't work, the characters were 1 dimensional, and again i get it's a kids movie but what happened to movies that were made for both parents and kids. I think this may be just a cash grab, and maybe good press for Rhianna. Not only was it unnecessary it was super bad to watch too.
