Avis à la une
The movie was good. Applies principles of intercultural communication and portrays the concepts of code switching and cultural norms. This movie takes the relationships between cultures as experienced in the everyday world into the business world. The issue of big companies selling the information of their customers is also touched upon. I think that this issue is a prominent one in contemporary culture and should be touched upon more often. Hopefully other movies can build upon this and do the same. It is the role of movies and art like this to expose the inner workings of business and culture to bring them to the light.
What I got back from the film was that Tronic was "the bad guy" to Solomon. I really didn't understand the whole concept of the purpose of the film. I didn't understand because almost every sene was in a different place and it was also didn't story lines that Tronic and Solomon were talking about. I think that the film could have been more better and not so fake. It seemed fake because I feel like anyone could easily figure out what can happen. I feel like I would see this film in highschool and students would be recording them selfs for a project that they have to do for school. Overall I think the script could have been a little more better.
This film is very interesting to me as to how it connects with intercultural communications. Solomon and Tronic obviously had very different cultural and ethical values. In terms of the film, it was great. I feel like the culture of both characters are all seen intertwined in the community now a days and the film does a great job of highlighting the differences amongst both characters. A lot of people can really connect with this film if they watch it fully and analyze the whole meaning as to why everything played out that way that it did. There willl always be differences in the world and that is something we can accept.
I did not really enjoy the movie, that being said I do think it did its job and served its intended purpose. I think the acting could've been better and the writing could've been more clever or better written. Tronic is a great example of thew modern world manger or boss. Nowadays most bosses and managers are white male characters. They all carry themselves in the same manner, they are assertive and like to create power distance. Overall, it was not a good movie. It wasn't entertaining to watch or anything of that sort. I like a lot of others only watched it as an assignment. The movie is more of a YouTube than a production film.
Just watching a little bit of the movie kind of confused me about the whole point of the movie. With the little time we watched the movie I was able to identify some examples of code-switching. An example of this is how quickly Salomon changes his emotions towards Tronic. I believe this movie shows a great way of intercultural communication and how it is applied. I can relate the most with Salomon. Coming from a different country and whole different culture relates me to him. When taking decisions morality and ethics should come into play, and I believe that I would've done the same thing Salomon did.
