A compassionate yet honest look at family and humanity

Director Andrew Ari Clibanoff tells a complex and interesting story that at times feels too short for its own good. There is a lot of character exposition and references to events in the past that at times feels too brushed over. However, given that the film has a runtime of 25 minutes (including credits), the film does as good as it can. It is clear that screenwriter Brandon Zinn has a deep understanding of the pasts of his characters, something that is important for a story to feel believable. Although not all the characters are likable from the start, they are written in such a compelling way that it is impossible not to be invested in their struggles. The end of the short is very satisfying and provides an optimistic view of the characters' futures.
