Avis à la une
The very first episode was immediately intense and interesting with a powerful moral.
This story needs to be told and I'm so glad it's finally being told in such an epic way.
The cinematography is gorgeous. I love how epic it is already.
The action reminded me at times of 300.
Jason mamoa is incredible in this.
I can't wait to watch more! Only 2 episodes in, but this show is right down my alley. Let's go on an adventure.

Idk if its just a terrible sounding language, or if the actors just don't speak the language and are faking it. But it sounds horrible and its impossible to sit through an entire episode listening to "uka la wala" sounds. Just pull a hollywood and speak english. Everything is off thanks to the language.
Chief of War is an absolute masterpiece. The cinematography is breathtaking, every frame feels like a painting, capturing the raw beauty and spirit of Hawaii. The score is equally powerful, swelling with emotion and driving the narrative with epic force.
What makes this series truly stand out is its authenticity. You're taken on a visceral, emotional journey through a chapter of history that desperately needed to be told. The decision to use the native Hawaiian language was perfection, it adds so much depth and integrity to the storytelling. If it had been in English, I honestly think it would have lost its soul.
The performances are strong across the board, and the action doesn't hold back, it hits you right in the face, both physically and emotionally. It's rare to see a show approach history with this level of cinematic beauty and cultural respect.

Chief of war is everything that you want and more with great performances, and with a great Hawaiian setting, amazing atmosphere that pairs with the cinematography, which is also another feat of the series so far, with how memorable some of the shots really are. Action sequences that are very unique and unexpected, the introduction to this series could not have been any better. 9/10 so far so good.
I have been waiting forever for a good series about the early Hawaiian kingdom being united. I only watched the first one, and I'm sold so far. I hope they keep close to the historical events (even with Hollywood artistic interpretation or embellishments). The first inaccuracy is that the women did not cover up their upper bodies until the missionaries came and made them cover up...but you can't have all the women topless in this series...ha. Many scenes with actors are not filmed in Hawaii, but I guess it's hard to get known Mauna and the backgrounds of scenes without CGI or getting rid of all the current buildings and architecture. You can also tell that many extras and background people are New Zealanders and such. I wished they had used more extras with real Hawaiian bloodlines (the scene where they embarked on O'ahu's beach for battle was obvious). I don't know why they couldn't use more Hawaiian "locals" for parts. It was funny to see "Aquaman" and his dad, Tom Curry, share leadership scenes together in this series....
I was born on Maui, went to high school on Kauai, but unfortunately missed my junior year of Hawaiian history. Hopefully this will be on spot and a good for all to understand da early days of the islands...before England and settlers took over, of course. Strap in...I feel this is going to be a good series.
