The concept sounded great but instead of something meaningful it took the basic tourist trail and added a whimsical script from the American perspective.
This is a cookie-cutter style documentary without any new or interesting twists or turns. The kind of thing you can get from any basic YouTuber these days. The only difference is a famous face.
The script lacks luster and doesn't offer anything of real significance and flatlines.
I suppose if the intended audience is the 9-5 American Joe then it may seem interesting. But if that's not you, then give it a miss and go to YouTube instead.
Sadly very lacking.

I don't often review anything, but I need to say something about the series. I put this on at random to serve as background noise only to find myself sitting down and watching it entirely.
His search to find an answer to what happiness truly is and how we can find it for ourselves is something that resonated inside me, and I believe it would do the same for anyone.
Whether you struggle with depression, or you feel like life has just become about jumping the next hurdle, or daily stress leaves you too exhausted to enjoy anything, or you simply feel aimless and empty, this short series is for you.
The people, cultures and places teach you simple truths in a beautiful way about human happiness. If you really listen, you will learn how interactions with family, friends, work, faith and nature shape people and, in turn, inspire you to think about you could change own interactions with world around you.
We are never less by knowing more. If you look inside yourself and cannot say that you are truly happy and at peace, then this series has something to teach you.

I travel to different countries every year, but I don't catch travel shows often. To me, this is more about experiencing different cultures and beautiful places. Happiness, which is supposed to be the destination the host is searching for, is pretty relative. We have happy days and unhappy days. It's a struggle, but most of life is a struggle of some kind.
My daughter and her kids LOVE 'The Office'. In the past, I wasn't into tv much so I never watched it, so I'm not familiar with the actor. I watch more tv now and when I saw it on Peacock, I gave it a try.
It's similar to most travel shows in that the host educates themselves on the food, culture and surroundings. We love seeing different places, to me a show doesn't need a niche.
It takes wonderful producers, directors, writers and photographers to capture the country in the small amount of time given.
For the staff listed above (and of course the host and ALL the unamed crew who work hard to pull the show together), its a good show.
I'm a mind-over-matter type of person. I'm 62yrs old, have never taken prescription drugs unless its a 5 day antibiotic and I try to set a good example for my kids & grands -exercise and do everything in moderation to sustain a somewhat normal life. Some of them say, Mom, not all of us can do the mind-over-matter. I try not to focus on the host mentioning his depression so much, but it's a reminder that I shouldn't ignore other's feelings & struggles.
I do prefer to focus on his interactions and experiences. One reviewer mentioned they stopped watching when someone stated the whole country takes anti-depressants. Remember, an interview will contain people's opinions, not necessarily facts. Watch it for the travel experience and you won't be disappointed.

You read the title with the word Geography and your eyes glaze over. But, give it a chance and you'll be hooked! This show was amazing for me. It made me smile and made me feel happy. Rainn is such an inquisitive, curious person. His interaction with all the different people seems to come so naturally from him. He's very open to everything, especially joy. I don't know if a group of my friends could play some of the games shown and laugh so much. I don't know if any of my friends would even be interested in playing games. I definitely recommend this wonderful travel escape Rainn takes us on. I hope this show has more than one season because I'm ready to travel with him again.
