Avis à la une
I'm a fan of Norm Macdonald. I saw him live in Huntington, NY earlier this year (2018). He was funny live and he's funny in the movie. To talk about a stand-up routine without giving anything away is no neat trick. So I'll just say that I laughed out loud a lot while watching "Norm Macdonald: Me Doing Standup".
Norm is really funny but his specials get worse with time. This is definitely worth watching but not more than once.
Norm Macdonald's prime years were probably on "Saturday Night Live", with a brief resurgence for films like "Dirty Work". But the man has not lost his sense of humor and delivers jokes with the best of them.
His appearance on roasts makes him come off as not funny, because his style is hard to present in that form. But given a full hour like he is here and he just gets better as he gets going. Macdonald scores big laughs when he gets to rambling and makes some off-hand remarks that do not even seem to be connected to the story.
Such a style makes me wonder if the jokes are written this way or if the humor just naturally comes out of Macdonald's way of telling stories. For example, the difference between men and women answering the phone during sex is not funny (though it could be from someone else). It gets hilarious, though, when such comments as "Frank is obviously not getting his shirt back" are thrown in. Is this intentional? I do not know, but it works.

This show is a classic, I've watched it several times and laugh just as hard. Only things my husband and I want to know though is... what is Norm on during this performance? He touches his face and mouth soooo many times... hope whatever it was, was good! You rock Norm! Xoxo.
I love all things Norm and I strongly feel this is his best stand up special. With Norm it's about the journey not the punchline and he will take you down a lot of roads on this one. It's dark, it's honest, it's insightful and most of all its hilarious. It actually gets funnier the more you watch it. It's so sad he is gone there will never be another like him. RIP King Norm.
