Well-written, beautiful cinematography, strong acting!

Séance brings originality to the horror genre by blending psychological depth with supernatural elements in a throwback to the great thrillers of the 1960s. Set in a Victorian mansion over 24 hours, the film focuses on four emotionally complex characters dealing with grief, guilt, and fractured relationships. The quality of the acting, depth of the writing, gorgeous cinematography by The Pitt's Johanna Coelho, and detailed, thoughtful production design by Bri Jones, really sets it apart from most horror films on the festival circuit. I was impressed, especially by supporting actors Connor Paolo as sensitive artist Albert and Vivian Kerr as mentally damaged and emotionally raw Lillian (also writing/directing). It's just well put together.
