Beyond the North Woods

This is simply one of the worst movies ever made. I don't know what else to say, but according to iMDB I have to write six hundred words about this trash fire of a film. I have watched several student films, none as bad as this. This supposed movie reaches a level of awful that I previously did not know existed. It had absolutely nothing to say, but it says nothing over and over and over again. The movie is like an episode of the Twilight Zone that wasn't good enough to make the cut. It is awful. I've spent a lot of time saying that. Why is it awful? It has no clue what it wants to do. At all. It is absolutely nonsensical. There's nothing to be gained by watching this dreck.

I've found that the more festival awards they mention in the trailer, the worse the movie is. This is no exception. I freely admit, I didn't give this movie a chance - I turned it off to search for another movie at the 9:06 mark. I wasn't interested in wasting another hour to find out if it gets better - life is too short and there are too many other movies to try. I will say this - I hope this is supposed to be satire, and the main character is intended as a critique of influencers, because if he's not supposed to be, if he's actually supposed to be playing this seriously, he should re-evaluate his career options.

I would have to side with DavidFredrick here, I am in that category, did I enjoy this movie or not.

I kept watching it until the end and came not so much disappointed but more so in two minds of what I thought about the movie.

Could it have been better of course it could have, to me the film tried to be to clever for its own good and some scenes didn't make sense even after the big reveal.

But overall I kept at it and came away still sort of okay with it.

Now this type of film is not for everyone, if you like fast paced movies then this is not for you, if you like thinking films maybe it's in your style of movie.

So I don't know what to say about it, maybe give it a go but don't expect this to be the next big found footage movie.

It was something, but I have yet to decide if it was something good. The film work and acting felt "authentic" which is always a plus for found footage style films. Great portrayal of an obnoxious youtuber trying to get good footage. The meat of the story is...well I'm not really sure that there is a story. The events flow and are tied together very well, but it still doesn't leave us with much of a narrative that leads anywhere. The movie did a great job of building and maintaining tension with nothing really happening, and kept feeling as though it was building to some kind of big reveal that never came. Don't get me wrong, there is a twist, but even that twist just felt like it was building to some big revelation that would provide a reason for this story being told. That being said, at no point was I bored and wanting to turn it off, so even though by the end I really wasn't satisfied with the lack of answers or meaningful plot, it was not a difficult film to get through. I always look for something different from a film that I watch, and this at least delivered that for me. However, I am unsure of the kind of person I could recommend this movie to, which makes it difficult to give it a rating above a 6.

I love found footage & even the bad & worse, but this was even beyond my toleration. This is even bad if it were just a YT video. Is this seriously how 20 somethings talk?? If so, I sincerely weep for our future. I am definitely not a prude when it comes to the use of profanity, when use for dramatics to heighten the emotion & when it's not over used. Dropping f' bombs every other word does not make you sound cool & in this case it turns these characters into f$%king morons. I swear if Jordan, the park ranger said, one more time that she didn't know what to do or where they were at in the woods....etc.

There is NO ONE to route for in this movie other than what or who is responsible for the previous disappearances/deaths. I'm sure after others see this movie I will not be alone in how I feel about this dumpster fire. I don't think anyone will have spoilers contained in their reviews on this as I believe you have to watch the whole film for that.
