Sherlock Holmes: Mare of the Night

Growing up I was never a Sherlock fan but after seeing this movie, it definitely changed my mind. The movie captures the emotional changes one goes through after a long career as a detective. As a retired police officer and combat veteran, I definitely related to Sherlock during his darker side. I never knew how many crazy and horrific cases he worked until I researched after. The main characters that told the story did an outstanding job along with the stunt/ fight team! I don't want to spoil anything but you definitely have to get out and watch it if you're a horror, thriller or mystery fan!

Lost in the trenches of Sherlock Holmes' nightmares and deep-rooted sense of loss and guilt is a story of a man who has saved hundreds of lives while the deaths of others he couldn't save plague his soul. With incredible music scores, dark and terrifying film finesse, and powerful performances that will draw you deep into the mind of Sherlock Holmes, you'll stay on the edge of your seat from the first minute! The cinematography in this film far exceeded my hopes, and the music scores summoned me deep into the murky mires of hellacious stories of love, loss, and sinister retribution. Don't blink.

I personally enjoyed the "darker" take on Sherlock Holmes. Originally envisioned a horror type setting from Sherlock after reading The Hound of Baskerville when I was younger. In addition to that, I also thought seeing vulnerability and insight into some of Holmes' personal struggles added a nice human element to the overall film. Les Best's performance was captivating as Sherlock along with Taylor King's. Thought the villain character was creative too. It's impressive that this is an indie film. I do know the director won San Antonio director of the year in 2024 and look forward to seeing more of his work in the future. Overall enjoyable film experience👍

What a great movie, it makes you wanting more. Great acting, videography and score music. They really captured that era in time. Well put together, loved everything about it. We will watch again and again. Can't wait for more to come. Director CJ Goodwyn out did himself, this movie deserves more showings everywhere for more people to watch. I highly recommend this movie, it does not disappoint. Thank you for putting a great film out for everyone to enjoy. I look forward in what's to come in the future with this film. Must see film to see a shattered hero at the end of his era and the past that haunts him. Creative writing and a super cool villain that you will remember! Small independent films need everyone's support now more than ever so do what you can to support the industry and all the talent that works so hard to create art that they are obviously passionate about. This film will leave you thinking about other iconic heroes and what their story would be if they were real people.
