Below Ground

(Title is an apposite quote from the absurdly long drinking sequence that makes up 90% of the runtime)

This film is... bad. The core plot is that demons or something are attaching a small suburban town (I believe in Ohio) this is introduced by a long, boring, and discursive monologue delivered in a monotone by the protagonist, a horror film director in the same small town. I didn't listen to it because honestly it was far too boring.

Then some people show up and engage in drinking and dialogue which has the character of 12-year-olds doing improv without direction except that they're drinking and cursing.

This is a complete waste of time, it's not even enjoyable in a so bad it's good way, it's not even really bad in the same way that a video of a family picnic isn't even really bad, it's just nothing that anyone not directly involved in the production would ever have a reason to watch (unless somehow it becomes critical evidence in a murder trial).

So,WWMM let me look at BELOW GROUND and it has a lot of neat touches that fascinated this reviewer.

This is from the filmmaker who made the documentary,THE BRASS RING,and it's the journey re-taken of all micro-budget rookies in OHIO,Trying to recreate their own little Hollyweird.

So,The wife has me watching THE STRAIN & LAST SHIP TV series and so the plague and virus as a villain is going around currently for fans.

BELOW GROUND is similar to those shows and yet has a micro-budget tinge that includes a 'found footage' angle and zombies,Even some tributes to 'Night Of The Living Dead' spread through out production.
