    Eh

About as typical as a hallmark Christmas movie can be. Charge the two mains did an excellent job at conveying their characters. The biggest problem I had with this entire movie was the fact that the mother couldn't sing to save her life and couldn't carry a tune if you put a handle on it. I think another reviewer said it best. This movie would've been much better if it ended with the two main characters singing that final song instead of bringing the mother up on stage. Really killed the entire mood and flow of the movie every time that woman opened her mouth to sing. Out of tune and pitch is being nice.

    Pass on this one

I really like Niall Matter but the story line was so slow and it could not keep me focused on the storyline. I enjoyed Niall's singing but not a fan of Beth Broderick's singing. The live interest Shenae sang lovely but I didn't like the chemistry between her and Niall. The relationship between mother (Beth) and daughter (Shenae) was good but the story was just so monotone just like the rest of the movie that it got lost. The story was just lackluster. I really wanted to like this movie but it didn't catch my interest. I wouldn't mind seeing the two leads in a better written movie. Here is to hoping a better story for these 2.

Lost love lacking the regret it deserved

Compared to all movies: 6.3. Compared to Hallmark movies: 8.0.

On my journey with Hallmark, this was maybe my 4th or 5th movie this year, of MANY. I plan on watching a hundred before end of the year.

Warning: some spoilers, but not really, I mean all the Hallmark plots are basically the same: girl gets guy, or girl loses guy, gets him back. Also this review is not as polished as many, because while I want to review all 100+, I won't nearly have the time for it, so it's just off the cuff, rough draft, one and done - press enter - sent.

This movie made me smile a few times. The lead female is cute, seen her in 90210 years back, so she's a decent player, a great actress, and I enjoy her personality. She brings a lot of that to the screen. I can't imagine many movies being boring with her as a lead, and I wish she was more prolific these days, but it looks like she's been silent for years.

The male is rough, and likable. What I really love about him is his raw anger and bitterness for the first 30 minutes, then things start to change as their "unbreakable and everlasting" bond (which was destroyed in a moment of youthful ignorance) renews itself. I sure wish life was always like that: rekindling a long dead and buried love, like a dead flower, simply pour some magic water, and sprinkle some fertilizer and *poof*

I enjoyed the movie overall. It contains a good message: help the kids, focus on important stuff, and put all relationships on the back burner... she didn't even see her mom as much as she should've, you can read between the lines. And the mystery behind the man - we never know what that's about. Did he make it in Nashville or not? If so, why hasn't anyone heard of him? I guess she was his muse.

There is a parallel romance with her mother that is nice, and her guy is a likable blue collar fella. Mom sings, and her voice is "interesting", not bad, just different.

Entertainment value: this is good enough to watch to the end, which was decent by the way. Nice to have a good ending. The actors are cute and funny, and have developed personalities so I recommend this, however after I've seen 15 or so, this movie might not be in the top 10.

I Don't Like My Television Anymore

You'd think if you were going to make a movie about professional singers, you'd cast actors that don't sound horrible when they "sing." Not so here, because you see these are actors, pretending to be someone else, and apparently they're pretending they're someone who can sing. The mother, played by Beth Broderick has an incredibly grating speaking voice, and when she sings it's like nails on a chalkboard, yet her character is supposed to be some kind of retired legendary singer. This film is stupid and horrible and insults the audience. I guess suspending disbelief includes imagining the noise coming from the actors' mouth is singing. I once had a terrible nightmare that I was back in Ireland at my dad's wake and some mad scientist mortician had connected a pipe into my deceased father's lungs so the mourners could pull levers and a machine would force air into my dad's lungs and up through his larynx to make him talk. But of course it was all very macabre and terrifying. That being said, the singing in this film was worse than my nightmare.

There are actually no redeeming features to this movie. I resent my mother for talking me into watching it and I resent having to take my valuable time writing this review, which means by extension I resent you all. I'm writing this for you after all in the hope I might spare you the discomfort of sitting through it.

I keep thinking about those monkeys at the zoo that throw excrement at people and wondering if perhaps I should do that to my television. If that sort of thing makes the monkeys feel better it might do me some good too.

    Didn't stand out for us

We've enjoyed Niall Matter since his days on Eureka, and he's been a solid presence in a number of Christmas films.

We found this film watchable, but it won't be on our repeat list. We have a couple the writers wanted us to believe both thought the other had left them. The reason they came up with seemed contrived and unbelievable, and they begin their reunion in their hometown each quite bitter at the other.

When Niall's character, who is putting together a Christmas show, runs out of piano players for rehearsals, she agrees to play the piano. Not just agrees, but volunteers with the slightest of suggestions from her mother. From there the supposed bitterness virtually melts away with very little effort. The relationship changes, in our opinion, lacked authenticity.

Our verdict is watchable, but we won't repeat the viewing.
