If you liked old classics from Ritwik, Ray or Mrinal Sen - you will love it. It's a story about a woman standing up against the tide to live her life and embracing everything good without judgement. Heavily influenced by old bengali master film makers ( it's a compliment) - beautiful use of editing, lights and above all music.

It grows on you as you watch every episode. Especially for people who came from that world see the glimpse of their past there. It also blends the beauty of a lifestyle and value system in the struggle of Indubala.

It's a series that deserves to be saved and watched multiple times. Probably one of the best web series I ever watched so far !!!

Such a masterpiece! After so many years, I have seen such a Bengali 'work'. This is fully bengali, amazing series. No overacting, no drama, so real! I have cried so many times when I was watching. This is the story of every Dida and Thakuma who has married to this country from Purbabanga. My family is also belong to Purba banga. My thakuma also came here that time with my father and pisi..

And the cooking.. how awesome and real they were! Fully bengali dishes. I watch so many popular high budget movies and shows these days. Most of them are English and Hindi. But this series is above everything. Subscribed to Hoichoi only to watch this series.

I don't usually give reviews ...I think after a long time I saw such a good work in "BANGLA" .. What can happen with good direction I saw it today .. For Subhashree Ganguly,I think this is one of the best of her career after "Parineeta" .. Everyone's acting is amazing.

Directions Directions..wow man wow..No more adjectives to say for now..thanks for making such a movie..I don't know how many times tears fell from my eyes...Feeling proud after a long time.

Sneha Chatterjee has done Lakshmi character really well ..her way of speaking ..her accent..and also angana Roy ..and all the male characters. BRAVO

And last but not the list background music....can't go wrong with any scene..Thanks again..LOVE LOVE.

Why no one talks about this brilliant series? Because it's made in bengali. 🙂 it's really unfortunate.

It's one of my best Indian series of all time. The emotion, the pain, the beauty of this can be truly felt only by a Bengali. It's soooo much culturally rooted that I doubt anyone else will understand the depth and pain of this series other than a Bangali. The struggle of indubala from her childhood to her old age.. The pain of "desh vag", the beautiful Bengali food she cooked (Bengali foods are the one of the best and most complicated food in the world) is just too good. I can keep writing about this whole day, but I don't want my review to be too long so I'm just gonna say one last thing if you're a Bangali and haven't watched this series please please please just go and watch it.
