Another Year Together

Writer/Director Daniel Hendricks Simon has hit it out of the park with his relationship-driven 'Another Year Together', beautifully shot mostly on Manhattan's Upper East Side (with visual nods to the films of Woody Allen). Its idiosyncratic characters, played by some of the BEST New York City actors (including Richard Masur, Roger Simon, Mike Roche and Marilyn Sokol) are as far away from cookie-cutter as you can get. Their collisions are not only vastly entertaining, but also provide a fascinating psychological study on the highs and lows of contemporary urban life, examining such themes as urban loneliness, success/failure, aging, loyalty, death, art, escapism, reconciliation, and tradition.

Another Year Together is more than love, actually. It's a bittersweet ode to relationships in all their messy glory--as lovers, family, friends, husband and wife, therapist and client. We stay at the table despite our collective neuroses, mouthguards, crises in masculinity, foot fetishes. Daniel Hendricks Simon's Manhattan is its own lonely character--only truly brought to life when it is connected to one of its inhabitants. "Is it love or co-dependency?" David asks his friend Jonathan. It may be a little bit of both when you leave a piece of your own comfortable shell behind to take shelter inside someone else's. We love, we lie, we cheat, we shut down, we break apart and, sometimes, we put each other back together. And maybe that's what love is all about. Simon's awkward, poignant, and beautifully flawed characters are part of a story in which we can all find ourselves together.

Great holiday movie with some good laughs and cries. This very entertaining film takes you through different relationships of all ages.

Alongside his long time, acting, father, Roger Hendricks Simon, Daniel Hendricks Simon wrote, directed and acted as the main character in this. You'll definitely want to get to know his work!

If you want to see a well written and directed film with a wonderful cast, this is the one.

After winning multiple awards and film festivals you can now watch through different platforms. If you are looking for a great film to watch this winter I would highly recommend Another Year Together!

This is a charming film about the ups and downs of spending the holidays in New York City with friends, and loved ones. This film had plenty of moments that made me genuinely laugh as well as a couple of conversations that were truly insightful which made me think of my own life challenges. There are numerous ensemble characters in the film, all of which are uniquely crafted and serve the story better. The subplot of the protagonist's mother and father really cracked me up. I would recommend this film to anyone, but I would say that it makes it all the more charming to watch between Thanksgiving and Christmas!

It's a gem!

Another Year Together is well written, acted, and directed. It is a feel good romantic comedy about friendships, romance, family, and communication between women and men. It is very New York City and very Woody Allen. Not only is Daniel Hendricks Simon a great filmmaker, but also a great actor. This is a film that brings comfort and features relationships we can all relate to. This Indie film is inspiring and features a wide array of superb talent. I can't wait to see what Daniel Hendricks Simon does next. There is a lot of quirkiness to to this film and a lot of soul. Don't miss out on this film.
