Avis à la une
Kyle Gallner could not save this movie
Gallner continues to impress with his range and its a shame as I was really excited to see him in this. Apart from the abysmal writing, the female actress playing Mel really irked me with her flat delivery frankly ridiculous acting, it's giving film school project level acting. I feel really bad for everyone who worked hard in the crew and cast as they all deserved better.
Great concept, good movie. Lead actress had a favor owed...
Movie and storyline are great, the lead and supporting actor do a great job, but the lead actress is not great. Lacks emotion and talent. She's very flat in all of her scenes and seems to not feel the emotions that should come naturally with a situation such as this. It makes it difficult to watch at times.
Actors do their best but the script could've used some tweaking
I like Kyle Gallner. He's effortlessly likable, even when he's not playing the most desirable of characters. I think his presence in 'Just Breathe' went a long way to making it as watchable as it was.
I also found Shawn Ashmore good as the antagonist of the film. He has to switch between likable and a menacing villain a few times and he was able to turn it on and off like a switch.
The problem with the movie falls with the script. It's just a little uninspiring and doesn't go to enough interesting places. The film is far from terrible, but it does all come across a little, meh. Bonus points for promoting baseball as the greatest sport on earth. 6/10.
Note: no actual bonus points were granted in the making of this review.

Great. Until the end....
With all the tension. All the build up.....the climax is ruined with a ridiculous heavy metal soundtrack......you had all my emotions until then.
The ending is rushed and lacking of all the empathy we built during the film.
Oh my review has to be 500 words.
In that case.......bee boo boo bop boo ya fuggin nooooooobs?
We good? Okay. Bye now.

A solid Kyle Gallner isn't enough to save this middling thriller. [+49%]
I watched this mainly for Kyle Gallner, and he did not disappoint. Gallner will get his big due in the near future, but I'm hoping he signs roles in films that come with better writing overall (and not just his character). The film works as long as it's focused on Gallner's protagonist, who struggles with anger issues, and how everyone surrounding him is affected by it. The father-son scenes were actually decent and provided some emotional heft.
However, it then jumps into Shawn Ashmore's baddie and his predictable motivations; the film goes downhill with no recovery in sight. There are some stiff B-movie choices in the framing and music. The direction befits the made-for-TV format, with quick resolutions and happy endings. Some of the performances are downright bad. Bottom line is, I'll still watch anything that features Kyle Gallner, even subpar films like this one.
