Avis à la une
This could be a longer film, to be honest. The plot is okay, it could be something bigger, however, when trying to recreate events in a period of time that was not even that long ago, one should research a bit more about the subject they want to portray to avoid flagrant anachronism.
There was no "disco fever" as early as 1973! Disco music was in its infancy that year. Disco was still a underground phenomenon with mostly funk and soul music, and there were no clubs like Studio 54 (the obvious inspiration for the one where the story is set in), with people making huge lines, and there was no "dance competitions" and "three-piece suits" that were clearly inspired by Saturday Night Fever, a movie that would only see its release in December 1977. The hairstyles, fashion and music don't match 1973 either.
If the story took place in 1978, in the actual height of the disco crazy, it would be spot on!

What absolute twaddle. I am so frustrated right now, and yes, bitter! I have came up with ideas, I have written short stories, and nothing has ever been picked up by anyone. I then turn on Netflix and watch this rubbish! How in the actual flubber does stuff like this even get produced? Complete and utter waste of time! I think they are trying to be clever and artsy, but is just comes across as an absolute dog's dinner of a production. Hell even the actors don't seem to know what their motivation is supposed to be. I am absolutely still shaking my head in disbelief that this is a thing that was written, produced, cast, filmed and distributed!
This movie is completely pointless. Rehearsing the short dance scene must have taken longer than writing the script. I know it's a short movie. I've seen many good short movies. This is not one of them. Writing this review and trying to bring it up to the required sixhundred characters probably takes longer than writing the script. If you read the blurb of the movie, you already know everything that happens. Do yourself a favor and skip this one. The production staff really tried hard to make this look good and the actors do their best, but there is simply no substance to the story at all. 321.
One of the coolest and most genuinely horrific premises I ever beheld was in Lucio Fulcio's "City of the Living Dead", when the suicide of a priest in a graveyard leads to the opening of hell's gates to earth. Why am writing this? Because, for a very brief moment, I hoped that "Disco Inferno" had a similar premise. The story opens atmospherically in 1955, with a nun confessing to murder and baby-kidnapping before hanging herself in church. Alas, though, after the promising intro the plot goes into a totally different and utterly stupid direction. "Disco Inferno" is a good example to illustrate why you shouldn't bother with short movies. There's no context, character depth, or decent build up. It's only 20 minutes long but manages to be boring for fifteen of those, and the denouement is pathetic beyond words.
Cute short, that I only saw because I didn't notice it was a short.
It felt like a real movie, not happening fast or rushed, that just ended. So if you don't know this is a short, I don't think you'll be able to tell either, it just quickly ends and it just leaves you there hanging.
Anyway for short movies IMDB should really change their 600 characters policy, because there isn't too much to cover.
It is a 15 minutes production, with good actors, nice location and an interesting plot to be honest.
It tries some character development, very little tension, it just fails with the ending. It simply happened too fast and it had nothing to do with the characters, they were just in the back seat, leaving the villain to be cut short by the movie's runtime and not a proper development.
Thus being said, sure I can recommend it, but more importantly those involved in the movie should prepare to make the bigger step. So far so good.
Cheers!
