Oloture: The Journey

These three episodes, the sequel to Oloture the movie, depict Oloture's voyage to Europe via illegal migration. The three episodes seemed somewhat hurried yet sufficient to narrate the journey from Nigeria, through Niger and Libya, to Europe.

This 3-episode series was engaging and gripping, though not on par with the movie. The series mainly focused on the journey itself, showcasing the challenges, risks, and trafficking issues, which at times felt repetitive. However, it effectively portrayed the harsh realities, particularly in Nigeria, in a very authentic manner. The element of friendship was prominent, keeping viewers on edge regarding who Oloture could trust, given the intense events she faced.

The performances were impressive, especially Sharon Oja's portrayal of Oloture and the entire cast's ability to bring emotions to the forefront authentically. It's rare to have such high expectations from Nigerian Netflix due to past disappointments, particularly in acting, but this series showed improvement. While there is room for growth, they have made commendable efforts in this production.

Hopefully, there will be a follow-up season or movie to conclude Oloture's journey and provide the closure we've been anticipating, "Justice". I'd give it a 7 out of 10, watch it with an open mind and enjoy.
