This is a spectacular (I won't say film) watch. It's not a documentary it's not a narrative. It doesn't fit into any box. What it is is thought provoking and visually stunning. This work belongs in a museum on loop forever. A piece of art that examines art. Watch it for yourself and be ready to express something real, or don't! It can be whatever you take from it, whatever you want it to be. The director dared to think outside the box in an era where that is no longer commonplace, and hopefully will become a norm once again. There is no telling what to expect. But you will be thinking and digesting it for days and days, that I guarantee!

"What Is Art?" is an experience that saunters the line between avant-garde film and artistic confessional. The movie offers a visual and auditory journey exploring the intricate relationship between humanity, structured society, technology, art, and nature. It's a bold and personal look at the director's world perspective as he lays bare both the flaws and faults of present day life, but also its beauty and goodness too. The technical expertise of a lifetime dedicated to the craft are on full display making this a feast for the senses.
Lush, provocative, poignant, and occasionally funny at times, the film is not a sermon but nonetheless invites feelings of contemplation, inspiration, and tranquility in those who view it.

This is a very thought provoking piece! What is art? Is a ride that juxtaposes meaning with the meaningless in a way that inspires you to explore that within your own life. To question things. To push beyond the programmed narratives and find the meaning of individualism while probing deeper into the ocean of our human experiences. If you don't like your views being challenged, maybe avoid this, but if you're willing to open yourself to new meanings and understanding, I recommend strapping in because you are going to be taken on a ride! A fantastic offering to remind us that all things are temporary and everything is circular and what you think you know, is balanced by what you don't know.

The themes resonate profoundly with the social and political climate in the United States today, making it both timely and impactful. The director, known for consistently delivering outstanding work, outdid himself here-elevating his craft to new heights in both screenwriting and direction. This movie is a testament to his ability to blend sharp commentary with compelling narratives, leaving a lasting impression long after the credits roll.
What is art is a all encompassing and immersive experience. It does not hold your hand but guides you on a journey that pushes you to look inward and as yourself the hard questions in life.

Without definitively answering the question I think Justyn Bell does a masterful job of not telling you What Is Art but making you feel the truth of the question inside as an individual.
